Software Engineering Intern
Location: Zaventem Belgium
Duration: 3–6 months (September 2026)
Level: Master students / Final-year Bachelor (Software Engineering)
Thales Cyber Solutions Belgium is looking for a motivated student to join our engineering team as a Software Engineering Intern. In this role, you will support the design, development, and testing of software solutions for our innovative products and services. Working alongside experienced engineers, you will gain hands-on experience with modern development practices while contributing to the delivery of secure, reliable, and high-quality software.
This position is ideal for students pursuing a degree in a technical field who are eager to apply academic knowledge in a collaborative and agile professional environment.
Key Responsibilities
• Assist in the development, testing, and debugging of software components under the guidance of senior mentors.
• Support the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) phases, including design, implementation, and testing.
• Produce clean, maintainable code in accordance with Thales Cyber Solutions Belgium engineering standards.
• Participate in code reviews and learn from feedback to improve code quality.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including architects, testers, and DevOps engineers.
• Support the investigation and resolution of software defects.
• Contribute to automated testing and CI/CD activities.
• Maintain technical documentation and development records.
• Apply secure coding principles throughout the development process.
• Actively engage in learning opportunities to adopt engineering best practices.
Required Qualifications
• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• Solid understanding of object-oriented programming principles.
• Knowledge of at least one programming language (e.g., Java, Python, C#, C++, or JavaScript/TypeScript).
• Understanding of software engineering fundamentals and design principles.
• Familiarity with version control systems (Git).
• Basic knowledge of SQL and relational databases.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and teamwork abilities.
• English & French proficiency (written and spoken).
Preferred Qualifications
Academic exposure or personal projects in any of the following are considered an asset:
• REST APIs and Microservices architecture.
• Linux environments.
• Containerization tools (Docker and Kubernetes).
• Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI, Jenkins).
• Unit and integration testing frameworks.
• Agile/Scrum methodologies.
• Modern frontend frameworks (React, Angular).
