Position Summary

State Street is seeking an experienced and transformational technology leader to lead the Hangzhou-based IMSWest Remediation Engineering team. This role will be accountable for building and leading a high-performing engineering team responsible for delivering strategic remediation initiatives that strengthen platform stability, operational resilience, controls effectiveness, and client experience across the IMSWest platform.

The successful candidate will partner closely with global technology, production support, architecture, business, operations, and risk teams to drive execution of a multi-year remediation program supporting one of State Street's highest-priority client commitments. The role requires strong leadership, technical depth, execution excellence, and the ability to influence stakeholders across global teams.

Key Responsibilities

Program Leadership & Delivery

  • Lead the Hangzhou IMSWest Remediation Engineering team, including application development, platform engineering, automation, and observability teams.
  • Own the execution of remediation workstreams focused on stability, controls, resiliency, technical debt reduction, and operational excellence.
  • Drive delivery against committed milestones, budgets, quality targets, and client remediation objectives.
  • Establish strong governance, risk management, and reporting mechanisms for executive leadership.

Engineering Excellence

  • Build a modern engineering culture emphasizing automation, reliability, observability, and operational ownership.
  • Implement engineering best practices across SDLC, CI/CD, testing, change management, and production support.
  • Drive adoption of monitoring, alerting, auto-remediation, and post-change verification capabilities.
  • Improve platform resilience through proactive problem management and elimination of recurring operational issues.

Stakeholder Management

  • Partner with senior technology leaders, business executives, program sponsors, and remediation governance forums.
  • Act as the primary engineering representative for the Hangzhou remediation team.
  • Communicate progress, risks, dependencies, and recommendations to executive stakeholders.
  • Collaborate effectively across global teams in North America, EMEA, India, and China.

Organizational Leadership

  • Recruit, develop, and retain top engineering talent.
  • Build a balanced organization with strong technical leadership, succession planning, and capability development.
  • Establish a culture of accountability, ownership, continuous improvement, and client focus.
  • Mentor managers and technical leaders to increase organizational effectiveness.

Risk, Control & Operational Resilience

  • Ensure remediation solutions align with regulatory, operational risk, and control requirements.
  • Partner with Risk, Audit, Compliance, and Operations teams to improve control effectiveness.
  • Drive measurable improvements in incident reduction, detection capabilities, recovery times, and service quality.
  • Champion operational excellence and proactive risk management practices.

  • Reduction in production incidents, operational risk events, and recurring issues.

Required Qualifications

  • 15+ years of technology leadership experience, including management of large engineering organizations.
  • Experience leading complex transformation, remediation, modernization, or resiliency initiatives.
  • Strong software engineering, platform engineering, or production engineering background.
  • Proven ability to manage multi-disciplinary teams across development, operations, and support functions.
  • Experience engaging with senior executives and driving outcomes in highly visible programs.
  • Strong understanding of operational risk, controls, governance, and enterprise technology environments.
  • Excellent communication, influencing, and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in financial services, investment management, custody, fund accounting, or capital markets platforms.
  • Experience with observability platforms such as Splunk, Dynatrace, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, or similar technologies.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms, automation frameworks, AIOps, DevOps, and SRE practices.
  • Experience with Agentic system development.
  • Experience leading globally distributed teams across multiple regions.
