Job Summary

The Software Specialist is responsible for the design, development, testing, and maintenance of embedded software. This role involves translating system requirements into robust, high‑quality implementations, contributing across the full software development lifecycle, and ensuring reliable system behavior in real‑time environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain high‑quality embedded software in a fast‑paced, safety‑critical environment
  • Contribute across the complete Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), including requirements analysis, design, implementation, testing, and maintenance
  • Develop and review software requirements specifications, functional specifications, and software design documents
  • Perform unit, module, system, and integration testing to ensure functional and performance requirements are met
  • Conduct root cause analysis of software and system issues and implement effective, sustainable solutions
  • Participate in system requirements reviews, software architecture discussions, and design decisions
  • Collaborate effectively with cross‑functional teams including systems engineering, QA, hardware, and verification teams
  • Support continuous improvement of software quality, robustness, and development processes

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or MCA
  • 2 to 5 years of hands‑on experience in real‑time embedded software development

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Experience working with communication protocols such as Ethernet, TCP/IP, RS‑232, and RS‑485
  • Experience with RTOS, Linux, or other embedded operating systems
  • Hands‑on experience in C and C++ programming within multitasking and multithreaded environments on RTOS platforms
  • Hands‑on experience in testing, debugging, and troubleshooting embedded software, firmware, and electronic control systems
  • Familiarity with Python, shell scripting, or batch scripting for automation and support activities
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment with frequently changing priorities
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to articulate technical concepts clearly and concisely, and have a sense of ownership towards work assigned.

Desirable Skills

  • Hands‑on experience with Inter‑Process Communication (IPC) mechanisms such as message queues and shared memory
  • Experience with Software Configuration Management (SCM) tools (e.g., IBM CLM, Perforce)
  • Familiarity with continuous integration, automated unit testing, and modern development pipelines
  • Exposure to Agile development methodologies, including Scrum and Test‑Driven Development , within an embedded software context
