Summary   

Visual Solutions Software Engineers are responsible for integrating our Image Generator (IG) solutions with our Flight Sim cockpit, Threat environment, and Intenal/External networked simulators. We make sure the pilots see what they should see - when they should see it. Our team is responsible for the development of interface software to the IG with the rest of the simulator, the network protocols and configurations of the simulator, and the development of the next gen visual system. Our team members are expected to travel when needed to customer locations to assist in installing, troubleshooting, and supporting customer training events. Engineers will be hands on in development labs working on the flight sims.  

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities   

  • Collaborating in a team environment 

  • Graphics API and linux software development 

  • Integration of complex hardware and software components 

  • Development of next gen toolsets and capabilities 

  • Development of Image Generator interfaces and network configurations 

  • Travel to domestic and foreign military sites for installation, troubleshooting, and customer test events 

  • Complete understanding of warfighter capabilities and system architecture 

 

 Qualifications and Education requirements 

  • Bachelor's Degree in computer science or related engineering, science, or math discipline. 

  • C++ and Linux experience 

  • Experience developing in a Linux environment using an IDE and the gcc toolchain 

  • Experience with 3D graphics and GPU software development 

  • Understanding of Object-Oriented Design (OOD) and concepts 

  • Understanding of Configuration Management 

  • Understanding of operating system and concurrency concepts such as process/thread management, scheduling and synchronization, networks and distributed systems. 

  • Understanding of the mathematics associated with 3D graphics: linear algebra, matrix manipulation 

  • Exceptional communications skills.   

  • Candidate should be a fast learner with very strong analysis and problem-solving skills with the ability to carry tasks through to completion with only general technical direction. 

  • Experience identifying and addressing the root cause of defects using software debugging tools like GDB in large scale and/or distributed systems. 

 

Security Responsibilities   

Must comply with all company security and data protection / usage policies and procedures.  Personally responsible for proper marking and handling of all information and materials, in any form. Shall not divulge any information, or afford access, to other employees not having a need-to-know. Shall not divulge information outside company without management approval.  All government and proprietary information will be accessed and stored electronically on company provided resources.    

  •  Incumbent must be eligible for DoD Personal Security Clearance.   

  

Due to U.S. Government contract requirements, only U.S. citizens are eligible for this role.   

 

Work Environment   

  • Duties performed in an office environment and manufacturing facility. 

  • Must be able to work overtime on and off-shifts as required. 

  • The employee is on call 24x7 for the resolution of problems and issues. 

  • Must be willing to travel up to three weeks at a time to customer locations. Please note that travel is not consistent, and varies greatly depending on customer needs.  

 

Physical Demands   

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.    

  • Applicants who can physically travel (fly) are preferred. 

  • The employee will work around flight simulators and may require some physical activity to reach components such as getting on ladders, climbing stairs, crouching behind electronics cabinets and squeezing into smaller spaces.
