The Software Engineer works closely with Pipeline Leads/Supervisor and artists to support and maintain our existing Houdini-based production workflows, and have familiarity with end-to-end departments in the production environment. In addition to troubleshooting user-facing issues, they have the opportunity to contribute to the development of new tools and workflows to meet evolving production needs. Drawing on their production experience, they help ensure that workflows are intuitive, well-documented, and accessible to users with a range of skill levels, while also supporting efficient operation on large and complex scenes.
Key Responsibilities
- Solve routine-to-challenging problems in the domain of Production pipeline workflows
- Write high quality Python code that is easy to maintain and is well-tested
- Communicate with artists to resolve issues in a fast-paced production environment
- Contribute to technical briefs and user documentation
Qualifications
- 3-4+ years experience supporting workflows for end-to-end departments in the production environment, preferably with Houdini as DCC, Good to have experience in Maya and Nuke as well
- Proficiency in Python for maintaining and enhancing existing Pipeline tools
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills for addressing artist workflow issues
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for documenting solutions and collaborating with artists
- Understanding of fundamental programming concepts and ability to work with existing code structures
- Experience with version control systems (particularly git)
- Methodical approach to testing and validating workflow solutions
- Ability to analyze and understand complex production pipelines and artist needs
