Location & Flexibility
Our Software Engineer will be an integral part of our CX Transformation team at TELUS Digital. This role will have the option to be in a Work From Anywhere capacity based out of one of the following offices: Charlottesville, VA, Durham, NC, Columbus, OH, or Boston, MA; Toronto, ON, Montreal, QC, Calgary, AB, Edmonton, AB, or Vancouver, BC.
Qualifications
- 3-5 years of professional software development experience
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field
- Proven track record of delivering complex software projects
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities
- Experience working in agile development environments
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain scalable web applications and services using modern technologies
- Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines and deployment processes
- Optimize application performance and ensure high availability across production environments while providing innovative solutions
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product managers, designers, and other developers
- Be self-aware of limitations, yet curious to learn new solutions and receptive to constructive feedback from teammates
- Take ownership of your work by meeting deadlines, anticipating delays, and raising issues appropriately
- Be thoughtful about communication with others, celebrating differences and unique contributions
Cloud & Infrastructure
- Google Cloud Platform (GCP) experience with services such as Compute Engine, App Engine, and Cloud Run
- Experience with microservices architecture
- Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies
Frontend Development
- Proficiency in HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript (ES6+), such as React.js
- Knowledge of responsive design principles and cross-browser compatibility
- Experience with frontend build tools and package managers
Backend Development
- Expertise in Node.js or Python server-side development
- Runtime server management and optimization experience
Additional Technical Requirements
- Experience with RESTful API design and implementation
- Knowledge of database technologies (SQL and NoSQL)
- Familiarity with version control systems (Git)
- Understanding of software testing methodologies and frameworks
- Knowledge of DevOps practices and tools
- Experience in telecommunications or enterprise software development
- Experience with browser dev tools to analyze web application performance
- Exposure to an agency environment with diverse concurrent projects
- Deep understanding and appreciation of quality code and architecture
- Ability to proactively identify bottlenecks and bring a solution-oriented mindset to problems

Annual Performance Bonus
This position is eligible for an annual performance bonus based on personal, division/business unit, and company performance. The range displayed is only the annual base salary. To maintain equity across the business, annual performance bonus targets are determined by job level, not individual circumstances.
Individual base salaries are based on various factors unique to each candidate, including skill set, experience, qualifications, and other job-related reasons determined during the interview process. Salary bands are periodically reviewed and updated based on market changes, internal needs, and industry trends. To maintain pay equity for team members, TELUS Digital conducts regular compensation audits.
