Software Engineer

Within Zalando’s Gift Card team you enable our customers to share fashion through gifts. This is achieved by facilitating the sale of gift cards on Zalando Fashion Store and by enabling our partners to integrate Zalando gift cards into their assortment. You will join a group of engineers working in close collaboration with Product, Commercial, Customer Care and other engineering teams to design and deliver impactful projects.

We as a team are more than just our services and features, we provide support and expertise in our domain to help solve complex business needs for both our Zalando Customers and external partners.

In this position you will have a great opportunity to grow as a frontend engineer*, operational excellence, complex systems design areas and work together with top experts. The technologies we mainly work with are Kubernetes, AWS, Typescript, React, Kotlin, Java, Spring, PostgreSQL and Nakadi.

*Please note, as we are a cross functional team, there is also an opportunity to gain exposure and develop your skills in backend/fullstack engineering, if this is of interest to you.

• Take ownership for designing, developing, deploying and operating end-to-end customer facing solutions.

• Deliver high quality software by paying strong attention to UX/UI design, automated tests, scalability and resilience.

• Work in a cross functional team consisting of developers, designers, product managers and product analysts.

• Collaborate on different products across the platform, enhancing and extending some of the most critical applications in the customer journey and have the opportunity to share, learn and influence the development practices across multiple teams.

• Knowledge of object oriented programming paradigm and languages, such as JavaScript and TypeScript

• 3 - 5 years of experience as a frontend engineer for web-based technologies (preferably with React)

• Strong passion for developing clean, well maintainable, and testable code

• High enthusiasm for continued personal development in discovering new technologies and software services.

• A collaborative attitude to closely cooperate with product design and other engineering teams to create great user experiences.

• Knowledge in automated deployment and monitoring through CI/CD pipeline (Docker, Kubernetes, or similar)
