Software Engineer

We are a virtual first company and your primary work experience will be virtual / working from your home.  Occasional travel to a physical office may be required to enhance working relationships, collaboration, design, strategy and alignment. 

As a Software Engineer you will work within a development team to help build new software and build enhancements to existing QAD software products. As a development team member you will analyze, design, develop, test, troubleshoot and debug software applications. You will work with team members to ensure quality through agile software development practices and continuous improvement. Participates in creation and execution of automated unit tests, functional tests, integration tests, and install tests. Works closely with stakeholders to ensure the sound development and implementation of QAD’s software solutions.

This role is fully remote from Spain.

What You’ll Do:

• Analyze, develop, enhance and maintain QAD software applications and tools.
• Includes creation of test plans, design specification, development and unit testing of source code, schema design, prototyping and documentation.
• Perform analysis to define requirements for new features or modifications including affected programs, expected behavior, related document changes and test scenarios.
• Provide input to technical training documents.
• Provide service and support to early adopter customers, support other QAD teams and troubleshoot and solve escalated customer issues.

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or related field.
• 3 to 5 years experience working in a software development environment as a software developer.
• Development skills like Java, C#, C++, object oriented programming
• Experience with SQL or other relational database software
• Basic knowledge of Linux/Unix, RDBMS is mandatory
• Functional and general concept of Supply chain and / or ERP is good to have
• Good spoken & written English skills
• Basic understanding of client server and API architecture
• Basic understanding of XML
• Experience working on an Agile/SCRUM team
• Progress software experience a plus
• Working knowledge of any one Development IDE - Visual Studio, OpenEdge  Architect, Spring Tool, Eclipse
• Basic knowledge of any one software source control like Git,CVS,SVN,VSTS)
• Preferred basic knowledge of any one build tools like Jenkins, Maven, Gradle, Bamboo
