Position Title: Software Engineer
The Group: Morningstar's Data Platform Services is the central nervous system of consolidating, normalizing, calculating and distributing Morningstar's high-quality data and capabilities around that data for internal and external consumers. EDP is the data provider as well as the business enabler. The individuals in this group thrive to enable faster business growth, better scale and improved customer experience by maximizing full commercial and brand value of data sets in their entirety.
The Role: In this role, you will collaborate with the team lead, Scrum Master, business analysts, QA, and other developers to build technology solutions for Morningstar's DL Platform by developing reusable libraries and tools. You will need to develop a good understanding of the existing cloud architecture and bring in thought leadership to improve and add solutions to this architecture. The team is looking for forward-thinking problem solvers who thrive in a fast-paced environment and can learn new technologies quickly as needed. As such, you should have familiarity with multiple programming languages, and exposure to data analysis projects.
Responsibilities:

• Software Development: Write, test, and maintain code for software applications. Ensure software is scalable, maintainable, and meets performance standards.
• System Design: Participate in designing system architecture and software solutions. Ensure designs meet business and technical requirements.
• Code Review and Quality Assurance: Conduct code reviews to maintain code quality and adherence to best practices. Implement and follow testing protocols to ensure software reliability.
• Problem Solving: Diagnose and resolve software defects and issues. Optimize performance and troubleshoot problems as they arise.
• Collaboration: Work with cross-functional teams, including product managers, UX/UI designers, and other engineers, to ensure cohesive development and product alignment.
• Documentation: Create and maintain documentation for code, systems, and processes to ensure clarity and continuity.
• Continuous Learning: Stay current with emerging technologies, programming languages, and industry trends. Apply new knowledge to improve software and processes.

Requirements:

• Completed Bachelor's degree in Engineering
• Minimum of 2 years of experience developing software solutions
• Experience and Expertise in Python and its libraries
• Expertise and hands-on experience in OOPs concept
• Experience in testing frameworks (in Python or otherwise) and understanding of how to derive scenarios for testing.
• Experience with cloud computing (preferably AWS), Hadoop, Spark or other BigData platforms
• Knowledge of the creation and usage of Jupiter Notebook
• Knowledge of SQL and hands-on in understanding and writing queries.
• Excellent listening, written and verbal communication skills
• Experience mentoring or training other developers
• Expertise with DevOps tools, CI/CD (Jenkins, Sonar, etc.)
• Good to have Experience on Containerization using Docker
• Good to have Experience on Frameworks like Great Expectations, Poetry, Apache Iceberg, Pyspark, ETL and Data Warehousing.
