About the Role
We’re seeking a driven, curious, and detail-oriented Software Engineer to join our growing engineering team. This role is ideal for someone with strong skills in PHP, Laravel, and VueJS, that's eager to contribute to real-world SaaS products and platforms. You'll work on core systems powering our customer-facing web portal and backend infrastructure while shaping the future of a modern insurance-based program.
What You’ll Do
- Develop, test, and maintain scalable backend services that power an enterprise customer portal using PHP and the Laravel framework.
- Build and enhance frontend interfaces using Tailwind CSS and VueJS, ensuring responsive, user-friendly design.
- Collaborate closely with our product manager, designers, VP of Engineering, and other internal stakeholders to turn requirements into robust features
- Work on SaaS-based architecture, helping optimize performance, maintainability, reliability and scalability.
- Participate in code reviews, sprint planning, and system design discussions. Comfortable using AI code-generation tools (Cursor AI, Claude, Copilot, etc.)
- Assist in integrating, training and applying machine learning algorithms or big data pipelines to production workflows
- Contribute to improving the developer experience, CI/CD processes, and internal tools that help with developer productivity
Technical skills and experience
- Solid proficiency in PHP, Laravel, and VueJS
- Academic or hands-on experience working on SaaS products and web portals
- Exposure to or interest in big data processing and machine learning concepts
- Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git), REST APIs, and databases like MySQL or MariaDB. Familiarity with analytics tools such as Metabase.
- Familiarity with a cloud-based architecture that spans multiple public clouds (AWS, Digital Ocean, Google Cloud).
- Excellent written communication skills (we collaborate a LOT on email & Slack).
Preferred (But Not Required)
- Prior freelance or full-time work experience in Fintech or InsurTech industries
- Certification on using any public cloud platform (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure)
- Experience with data pipelines or ML frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, Spark)
- Certification in Kubernetes (Certified Kubernetes Application Developer - CKAD)
- Comfortable working on WordPress and CMS platforms like Statamic or Ghost
