We are looking for a Software Engineer for the Product Development department. The position is located either on our site in Helsinki, Finland or in Göttingen, Germany. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and supporting cutting-edge software enabled products for our customers.
The Lab Essentials team consists of over 10 professionals working in Göttingen and Helsinki. We are an international team working in a project organization with colleagues for example from Germany, US and Finland. We are looking forward to shaping the future with you. This is a one year fixed-term fulltime role starting on July 1st 2025. We work in a hybrid model, 2-3 days / week from the office.

Grow with us – Your Responsibilities
- Gather, analyze and define requirements for new complex software functionality with input from product managers, customer feedback, and internal product development teams.
- Engineer and develop sustainable software systems using prototyping, clear software design, and participating in design reviews.
- Write clear, easy to maintain, high quality code that is optimized for performance and memory usage.
- Write comprehensive design, functional, and quality assurance test documentation.
- Implement automated testing at the unit and nightly regression framework levels.
- Validate correct software and hardware system operation.
- Provide assistance to technical support team and product development teams as needed.
What will convince us
- Academic degree in Computer Science / Engineering or a comparable scientific field.
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in developing commercial software products.
- Excellent proven development skills in TypeScript and React.
- Experience in C#, Java, Python or React Native Mobile development would be a plus.
- Strong understanding of cloud computing, particularly Microsoft Azure.
- Proven experience with modern software engineering processes and methodologies.
- Knowledge of one or more of the following desired: SQL/NoSQL database programming, graphing tools, data analysis and visualization and parallel programming.
- Fluency in English, both written and oral. Finnish/German skills considered to be an advantage.
