Job Title: Software Engineer
Duties: Responsible for various software development and engineering activities supporting the delivery of autonomy algorithm software to the overall system solution within our autonomy software algorithms components. Perform software development activities such as software architecture, design, coding, unit testing, integration, deployment, and maintenance within their assigned autonomy algorithms software component. Develop, implement and test autonomy algorithms with the areas of active sensing and information fusion. Develop perception algorithms to detect and perceive objects for Torc’s autonomous driving systems, allowing the system to understand and react to the environment around the vehicle in real-time. Create software to utilize algorithms that use sensor data from LiDAR, RADAR, and cameras to detect, classify, segment, and detect, segment, classify, and track obstacles in the vehicle's surrounding environment. Create situational awareness for our behaviors and path planning teams to make vehicle decisions to navigate safely.
Requirements: Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Geophysics, Computer Science, or related software engineering technical field with 2 years of experience as a Software Engineer or closely related position with autonomy algorithm experience, or alternatively Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Geophysics, Computer Science, or related software engineering technical field with 5 years of experience as a Software Engineer or closely related position with autonomy algorithm experience. Experience must include relevant autonomy algorithm software experience, including Python development and unit testing in Linux environment; lidar and camera sensor; calibration and fusion; machine learning for 2D and 3D perception; HD (high definition) mapping automation; ROS (Robot Operating System); geosensing engineering; probability and linear algebra; code and unit testing of autonomy algorithms for application within embedded application; motion control and state estimation.
Position is located at HQ in Blacksburg, VA but eligible to work from anywhere in the U.S.

Salary range: $139,000.00 to $166,800.00 per year
