The Product Area and The Team  

As a Software Engineer, you will become part of the Transactions product area within SimCorp's Product Division, responsible for delivering functionality that enables clients to make investment decisions with our back-office applications.

The Transactions product area is one of the core areas in SimCorp Dimension® and it is an excellent opportunity to grow into both business side of financial instruments as well as software engineering in a highly skilled, highly diverse, at the same time highly creative and collaborative work environment.

Currently it consists of three teams, each with five to seven software engineers across several geographical locations, and you will join one of the teams.

As part of our scrum team, you will play a crucial role in delivering solutions for Transactions while working closely with Product Owners and engaging with clients. You will work with a codebase primarily based on APL and C# (backend and APIs ) with the potential of extending our tech stack to new programming languages in the future, in a culture that values trust and teamwork.

The present and near future main topics are good maintainability, high system performance, continuous integration and delivery, and moving into our unified platform for cloud.

What you will be responsible for

You will apply your expertise to all stages of the development lifecycle , including creation and review of user stories, development, design, testing, coding, code reviews, writing automated tests, and support. You will be using multiple technologies, and your responsibilities will also include:

  • Develop new core functionality to support the business modules and continuous improvements to the existing code base.
  • Expand existing solutions in all areas of SimCorp Dimension for the usage of Transactions, discuss solutions options, test and support it.
  • Work as part of your scrum team to support timely deliveries as well as high level of quality and product architecture.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to understand their needs and get fast feedback.
  • Constantly learn and improve yourself, the team and our product incl. experimenting with modern engineering practices such as test-driven development, SpecFlow, etc.

  • Ability to work with and develop complex architecture front and back end.
  • Comfortable with changing code from other product areas.
  • Genuine willingness to learn and to dig into unknown areas . 
  • Being comfortable working with new technologies.
  • Being adventurous - able to work in one direction and fast turn into another one.
  • A high sense of quality, ability to work to deadlines, attention to detail and taking ownership of delivering a sound solution.
  • A desire to constantly deliver value to the clients, to improve yourself and the team.
  • Good communication skills and fluency in English (spoken and written).
  • Understanding the Lean Agile practices, values and principles allow you to better understand how we work.
  • Domain knowledge within finances, especially in pricing and accounting, is beneficial.
  • Knowledge of or curiosity to learn APL.
  • Programming experience in object-oriented languages, especially in C# using .NET framework.
