Job Description
The Group: You'll be working between two groups and ensuring that both groups share knowledge. First, Advisor Workstation Architecture, the group leading the way on modernizing Advisor Workstation in the Cloud. Architecture investigates, does POCs, coaches the Workstation teams, and works alongside them to deliver value to our advisor community. Second, Workstation's tiger team that's on the front end of reviewing issues from our clients and figuring out proactive ways to make sure they don't happen again.
The Role: As a member of Workstation Architecture, you will focus on exploring and implementating improvements to the system design of the Workstation federation of apps and services. Each architect also gets deeply involved with individual teams to help design, guide, and build projects to deliver value to our customers with cloud forward, scalable and maintainable solutions. As a part of the tiger team, you will be bringing what you learn back into Architecture so we can, as a team, work out the best way to design Workstation for future resilience and a better overall client experience.
We are looking for engineers who are full stack, willing and interested in being involved in all facets of software development. This is most beneficial when diagnosing issues that can originate from any part of the stack. This also applies to conducting POCs and exploring improvements via the architecture team in any of these layers. Expect that cloud development with AWS, Vue JS, JavaScript, .NET, database development all to be vital assets to have or be willing to learn and grow. Expect opportunities to share and present to other Workstation teams. You must be comfortable in a highly visible team.
This role reports to our Lead Architect responsible for Workstation, and is located at Morningstar Headquarters in Chicago.
