Job Description
Empirical Systems Aerospace, Inc. is seeking a dynamic Software Engineer to join our team. ESAero is a growing aerospace company in the San Luis Obispo area and provides services which include but are not limited to: rapid system development, on-demand niche engineering, hands-on development/testing, and small UAS aerospace system manufacturing.
**This position is fully on-site at Empirical Systems Aerospace in San Luis Obispo, CA
Job Summary:
ESAero is seeking candidates for a position in Software Engineering including the following specific areas:

Real-time and embedded systems

Designing and developing prototypes and testing of UAS

Development and Operations (DevOps)

Firmware development
Responsibilities and Duties:
-
Collaborate on all phases of development: Reqs, Design, Build, Test, Delivery
-
Help to create novel solutions to complex technical problems
- Write high-performance real-time code
- Assist in the creation of internal tools and pipelines
- Exploration of new technologies, techniques, and approaches to a problem -
Create comprehensive runtime assurance suites
-
Architect complex code systems
Basic Qualifications/Requirements:
-
US Citizen
-
Willing to relocate to San Luis Obispo, CA
-
BS in Mechatronics (preferred), Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field
-
Demonstrated clear communication & writing skills
-
3+ years of C++, and Python experience (both preferred)
-
Working knowledge of compilation & build tools (Code Composer, NetBeans, VSCode, Qt, CMake, Make, GCC, Clang...)
-
Familiarity with version control using Git
-
Familiarity with Machine Learning techniques and fundamentals
-
Development experience with ARM-based microprocessors
-
Experience writing testable code and unit tests
-
Comfort in a Linux development environment
Desired Skills/Experience:

Working knowledge of wireless transport protocols
-
Experience with low-latency video streaming
-
Experience bringing up CI/CD workflows
-
Knowledge of PX4 and Ardupilot flight stacks

Experience with common computer vision techniques and libraries

Experience with the use of Docker to test and deploy code

Ability to read electrical schematics
