About the Role 

We are looking for a talented, highly motivated, and experienced Senior Backend Engineer to join one of our growing and inspiring teams. You will play a key role in the continued evolution of our Unified Platform, helping to build the next generation of our merchant risk solutions while supporting and maintaining MerchantView, our flagship merchant risk classification product. 

 Working on our flagship product, you will help design and build scalable, high-performance backend services and contribute to future products powered by our GenAI and machine learning infrastructure. You will collaborate closely with Product, Data Analysts, Data Scientists, and fellow engineers to deliver innovative solutions that support our next-generation platform.

What You'll Do 

• Take a leading role in designing and developing our flagship product. 
• Build scalable, high-performance backend services and applications. 
• Solve complex challenges involving scale, performance, and business logic. 
• Work in an agile development environment. 
• Collaborate closely with Product Managers, Data Analysts, Data Scientists, and Engineers to deliver impactful solutions. 
• Review code, architecture, and data to identify opportunities for improvement and optimization. 
• Contribute to the development of the Unified Platform and its microservices-based architecture on AWS. 
• Develop robust, scalable solutions using Java and cloud-native technologies. 
• Take ownership of features and projects from design to production. 
• Continuously improve engineering processes and proactively identify and resolve issues. 
• Foster a collaborative team culture and contribute to technical discussions and best practices. 
• Work within an AI-first SDLC, using AI coding assistants, agentic workflows, automated code reviews, and modern engineering practices to accelerate delivery, improve quality, and enhance developer productivity. 

Within Your First 12 Months You Will 

• Work closely with multiple stakeholders to design, implement, and deliver the merchant-classification core of the Unified Platform. 
• Become a key contributor to the team's architecture and technical direction. 
• Deliver high-quality features and help drive the evolution of our platform and engineering practices. 

• B.Sc./M.Sc. in Computer Science or equivalent. 
• 7+ years of backend development experience with Java (Spring Boot or similar frameworks). 
• Experience designing and building microservices-based architectures. 
• Experience with Spring Boot, JDBC/JPA, and Linux. 
• Hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure, preferably AWS. 
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes. 
• Strong knowledge of relational databases (MySQL preferred) and SQL. 
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to independently own features and projects. 
• Team player, fast learner, and passionate about solving complex challenges. 
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills. 

Nice to Have 

• Experience using GenAI tools to accelerate development and improve engineering workflows. 
• Experience with Elasticsearch. 
• Python development experience. 
• Experience with messaging or streaming platforms such as Kafka, Kinesis, RabbitMQ, or SQS. 
• Experience with NoSQL databases such as DynamoDB, MongoDB, or Couchbase. 
• Experience with Jenkins and Maven.
