Software Engineer

We are now looking for a Software Engineer who can help us to continuously improve Volue’s ability to provide value to customers in line with the Volue mission.

What you will be doing to make a difference:

• Designing, developing, and maintaining full stack features — from Java/Spring Boot backend services and REST APIs to React/TypeScript frontend interfaces.

• Building and evolving a shared component library, and owning UI/UX decisions where dedicated design resources aren't available.

• Working with domain-heavy business logic around energy communication, nominations, schedules, messaging, integrations, and operational workflows.

• Building intuitive, data-dense user interfaces for operational and scheduling tools — grids, tables, real-time data views — and proposing ways to make the app easier and more intuitive for users.

• Building and maintaining integrations with external systems, market platforms, message hubs, and SFTP/AS4/ECP communication channels.

• Improving reliability, observability, and maintainability of services that support time-critical energy operations.

• Contributing to design, data modeling, business logic, and performance improvements across the full stack.

What you need to succeed:

• 3+ years of experience in Java backend development, with Spring Boot and REST APIs.

• 1-2+ years of experience with React and TypeScript in production applications.

• A good eye for UX and interface design — comfortable making design decisions independently, since UI/UX resources are only available occasionally.

• Solid understanding of SQL databases, JPA/Hibernate, schema migrations, and transaction handling.

• Familiarity with messaging, asynchronous processing, and event-driven systems.

• Experience with cloud infrastructure, Docker, and CI/CD pipelines, preferably Azure-based environments.

• Ability to work with complex business domains and translate domain requirements into maintainable technical solutions.

• Good communication in English (at least B2+ level, this team works in English on a daily basis).

Nice to have

• Experience building or maintaining a component library or design system.

• Experience with AG Grid or similar data-grid libraries.

• Experience with Courier (courier.com) or similar notification infrastructure for in-app/real-time alerts.

• Familiarity with energy markets, scheduling protocols, or XML-based messaging standards (ENTSOG, BDEW, ECP).
