As a Senior SDET — Senior IC in Bengaluru, you will join a diverse, passionate team dedicated to powering the world’s payments ecosystem!
This purpose of this Senior SDET — Senior IC is:
We are seeking a Senior SDET to lead quality initiatives for complex, large-scale systems. You will own test strategy, design scalable automation frameworks using Playwright, and drive the adoption of GenAI-assisted testing across the team. This is a hands-on senior engineering role with significant influence over architecture, release quality, and engineering best practices.
A typical day at ACI for a Senior SDET — Senior IC is:
Architect, develop, and scale Playwright-based automation frameworks for UI and API testing
Define and own test strategy across features, services, and releases
Drive adoption of GenAI tools for test generation, optimization, failure analysis, and productivity
Partner with software engineers to improve design for testability and shift quality left
Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines to enable fast, reliable releases
Analyze test failures, identify systemic quality gaps, and drive root-cause fixes
Mentor junior SDETs and raise quality standards across the team
Define and track metrics for test coverage, reliability, and release readiness
Knowledge, Skills and Experience needed to succeed in this role:
Owns end-to-end quality strategy for a product or service area
Drives automation architecture and tooling decisions
Influences quality practices across multiple teams or a broader testing ecosystem
Designs and scales Playwright frameworks for both UI and API testing
Applies strong coding discipline — clean abstractions, readability, and maintainability
Deep understanding of distributed systems and microservices testing
Applies GenAI strategically for test optimization, failure analysis, and team productivity
Shifts quality left by influencing system design and testability decisions
Mentors junior SDETs and actively raises the bar across the team
Defines quality metrics including coverage, flakiness rates, and release confidence
Measurably reduces escaped defects and release risk
Improves test execution speed and overall suite reliability
Becomes the go-to quality leader for the engineering organization
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
6+ years of experience in test automation or software engineering
Strong hands-on experience with Playwright at scale
Excellent coding skills in JavaScript/TypeScript; proficiency in an additional language preferred
Experience testing distributed systems, APIs, and microservices
Proven track record integrating automation into CI/CD pipelines
Strong debugging, system-level thinking, and problem-solving skills
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Experience needed for this role:
Experience applying GenAI/LLM tools for testing, productivity, or quality analysis
Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
Knowledge of performance, reliability, or security testing
Experience in large-scale, high-availability production systems
Strong communication and technical leadership skills
