The Role

Grammarly is excited to offer a remote-first hybrid working model. Grammarly team members in this role must be based in the United States or Canada, and, depending on business needs, they must meet in person for collaboration weeks, traveling if necessary to the hub(s) where their team is based.

This flexible approach gives team members the best of both worlds: plenty of focus time along with in-person collaboration that fosters trust and unlocks creativity.

About Grammarly

Grammarly is the world’s leading AI writing assistance company trusted by over 30 million people and 70,000 teams. From instantly creating a first draft to perfecting every message, Grammarly helps people at 96% of the Fortune 500 and teams at companies like Atlassian, Databricks, and Zoom get their point across—and get results—with best-in-class security practices that keep data private and protected. Founded in 2009, Grammarly is No. 7 on the Forbes Cloud 100, one of TIME’s 100 Most Influential Companies, one of Fast Company’s Most Innovative Companies in AI, and one of Inc.’s Best Workplaces.

The Opportunity

To achieve our ambitious goals, we’re looking for Windows (C# & .NET) Software Engineers to join our teams. The teams looking to hire Windows Software Engineers are responsible for building user-facing features and driving improvements to our flagship client application - Grammarly for Windows. This application helps millions of users use Grammarly wherever they write - across apps and browsers on Windows OS. We invite you to help us build amazing features and capabilities in this application. It’s already awesome, but together we can make it outstanding.

Modern AI enables nearly magical communication assistance capabilities. Our goal is to bring all that magic into our users' real-life situations every day. Our code works right where our users write in every instance of text editing powered by Grammarly.

Grammarly’s engineers and researchers have the freedom to innovate and uncover breakthroughs—and, in turn, influence our product roadmap. The complexity of our technical challenges is growing rapidly as we scale our interfaces, algorithms, and infrastructure. You can hear more from our team on our technical blog.

As a Windows Software Engineer at Grammarly, you will build new user-facing features on our Windows desktop client.

In this role, you will:

  • Collaborate with our engineering, product, and design teams to design, build, and ship major user-facing features.
  • Develop features from early-stage prototypes to metrics-driven iterations to successful launches.
  • Collaborate with other client teams across platforms to ensure consistency across Grammarly’s product offerings.
  • Maintain excellent application performance and code quality by applying engineering best practices and thoughtful problem-solving.
  • Ship production code using C#, .NET, and WPF to one of our most strategic flagship product offerings.

Qualifications

  • Has strong knowledge of developing Windows applications with C#, .NET, and WPF.
  • Is fluent in engineering best practices: code review, test coverage, and monitoring.
  • Has—as a plus—experience developing desktop applications that work with low-level APIs, such as C++, Win32, COM API, and .NET interoperability.
  • Has strong knowledge of OOD and OOP.
  • Has strong knowledge and practical experience with multithreading (TPL, asynchronous computations).
  • Is excited about finding an optimal solution in situations of uncertainty.
  • Enjoys fast-paced delivery and a consistent feedback loop.
  • Nice to have: experience developing desktop applications for Windows using WPF.
  • Enjoys utilizing design thinking to create user-centered products.
  • Thrives in fast-paced development and constant feedback loop.
  • Values thoughtful and proactive communication in collaborative and inclusive environments.
  • Embodies our EAGER values—is ethical, adaptable, gritty, empathetic, and remarkable.
  • Is inspired by our MOVE principles, which are the blueprint for how things get done at Grammarly: move fast and learn faster, obsess about creating customer value, value impact over activity, and embrace healthy disagreement rooted in trust.
  • Is able to collaborate in person 1-2 weeks per quarter, traveling if necessary to the hub where the team is based.
