About the Role

Join a mission-critical Thermal and Loads disciplines within Orion System Analysis organization at Lockheed Martin Space, where your software skills will directly support the safety and success of aerospace programs. You’ll design and build a large-scale relational database with an intuitive web frontend, integrate it with existing databases and a robust Python codebase, and unify simulation and real-time experimental data to generate dynamic reports and complex plots delivered to customers. This is a unique opportunity to shape how vital Loads and Thermal data are stored, accessed, and visualized––sitting at the intersection of software engineering and mission-critical systems engineering.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain a scalable relational database with a modern web interface for Thermal and Loads disciplines’ data management
  • Seamlessly integrate new data pipelines with existing databases and an established Python codebase
  • Process, analyze, and visualize simulation data, real-time experimental streams, and generate custom plots/reports for customer delivery
  • Collaborate with thermal and loads engineers and cross-functional teams to ensure data integrity, accessibility, and usability
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of data architectures, workflows, and documentation

We’d Love to Hear from You If

  • You have professional experience with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, MSSQL, Oracle) and web frontend development (e.g., React, Angular, Flask, Django)
  • You’re experienced working with Python and integrating it with database systems and engineering tools
  • You have experience with simulation data, experimental data workflows, or technical reporting/plot generation
  • You’re eager to expand your skillset, take ownership of growing responsibilities, and adapt in a fast-paced aerospace environment
  • You’re passionate about contributing to real-world missions that keep astronauts safe and push the boundaries of space exploration
