JOB SUMMARY:
The Software Engineer will work on projects related to the creation, modification, and support of Ordering, Logistics, and Cash Applications. At Polaris, these Order to Cash applications utilize Infor-XA/Mapics and IBMi customizations.
The Software Engineer is responsible for detailed design and software integration, partnering effectively with business users, project managers, and application developers. This role involves analyzing existing business processes and data flows to develop system designs, delivery roadmaps, and integrations with other systems. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a passion for enhancing business results through innovative software solutions.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Systems Design, Validation, and Implementation:
- Analyze business needs and create software solutions for ordering and cash applications, primarily in Infor.
- Lead system use and optimization improvement projects.
- Collaborate with stakeholders and teams during design, development, and implementation phases.
- Prepare and review design documentation, ensuring it meets functional and technical requirements.
- Develop acceptance criteria, perform system testing, and lead user acceptance testing cycles.
- Execute implementation tasks and ensure successful go-live, meeting business needs through user acceptance testing.
- Ensure compliance with SOX.
Gathering Requirements and Analysis:
- Analyze current and future business processes.
- Evaluate alternatives and define system scope and objectives for application creation or modification.
- Produce deliverables including business process flows, use cases, and storyboards.
- Facilitate project and administrative meetings.
System and User Support:
- Provide day-to-day application support to business users.
- Troubleshoot and resolve production issues.
- Understand technology and systems infrastructure.
- Work with users on functional requirements, development, and implementation plans.
- Document and train users on system processes and changes.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support overall objectives.
- Embrace teamwork and collaboration for successful task completion.
SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Design, Computer Information Systems, or equivalent.
- 5+ years of experience in system analysis and writing functional/technical specifications on the iSeries platform for Infor XA/Mapics ERP systems.
- Functional knowledge of Infor XA Order Management, Logistics, and Cash applications.
- Experience with real-time interfaces using PUB/SUB and batching via Secure FTP.
- Ability to test, diagnose, and resolve Infor-XA product issues.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and customer service orientation.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects under pressure.
- Interest in learning and developing using new ERPs, particularly SAP, in line with company transformation plans.
- Experience supporting application portfolios in sunset mode.
- Understanding of IBMi custom applications.
- Knowledge of manufacturing, warehousing, logistics, and supply chain processes.
