**This is a hybrid position with an onsite requirement of 1–2 days per week in Alpharetta, GA. Candidates should be within a reasonable commuting distance (approximately 50 miles) of Alpharetta, GA to support onsite requirements.
We are looking for a Software Engineer to support the administration, maintenance, and operational stability of enterprise data platforms, with primary focus on Snowflake & Matillion platform. This role is intended for someone with strong troubleshooting skills, a platform support mindset, and the ability to use automation and AI-driven approaches to improve operational efficiency.
The ideal candidate should be comfortable supporting data platforms , production jobs, access management, deployments, incident resolution, documentation, and platform health monitoring. In addition, the candidate should have interest and ability to use AI, automation, and agent-based solutions to optimize support processes, reduce manual maintenance activities, and improve proactive issue detection and resolution.
ResponsibilitiesKey Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day administration and platform support for Snowflake, Matillion and related enterprise data platforms. Responsibilities include monitoring platform health, supporting user access, troubleshooting production issues, assisting with deployments, maintaining operational documentation, and coordinating with Data Engineering, BI, Cloud, Security, Infrastructure, and business teams.
- Identify opportunities to automate repetitive support tasks, build AI-assisted workflows, and develop lightweight agents or automation scripts where applicable to improve platform reliability, reduce manual intervention, and enhance operational efficiency.
Primary Duties
- Provide administration, platform support, and maintenance for Snowflake, Matillion and other enterprise data platforms.
- Monitor Matillion jobs, schedules, failures, alerts, and production execution issues.
- Support Snowflake users, roles, warehouses, databases, schemas, permissions, access reviews, and platform usage monitoring.
- Support Power BI administration activities including workspaces, gateways, dataset refreshes, user access, capacity monitoring, and production support (Optional)
- Assist with incident triage, root cause analysis, resolution tracking, and post-incident documentation.
- Support deployment activities across development, test, UAT, and production environments.
- Maintain runbooks, SOPs, operational checklists, support guides, and knowledge base documentation.
- Work with Data Engineering and BI teams to troubleshoot ETL/ELT pipeline failures, report refresh issues, connectivity issues, and performance problems.
- Use AI tools and automation to optimize support processes, reduce repetitive manual tasks, and improve operational effectiveness.
- Build or support AI agents, scripts, or automated workflows where applicable to assist with monitoring, job failure analysis, report refresh validation, documentation, access reviews, and maintenance activities.
- Identify opportunities for proactive monitoring, automated alerts, self-service support, and preventive controls.
- Support platform upgrades, patches, configuration changes, environment maintenance, and vendor coordination.
- Monitor Snowflake performance, warehouse usage, cost trends, query history, and resource utilization.
- Monitor Power BI capacity, refresh failures, gateway health, workspace usage, and report performance issues.
- Support audit, compliance, vulnerability remediation, access certification, and change management activities.
- Be willing to support additional platforms as needed, including BI tools, data governance tools, data integration tools, and AI/ML platforms, with minimal training.
Minimum Qualifications
- 2+ years professional experience with Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related technical field; Additional experience may be accepted in lieu of education or degree
Required Skills
- Hands-on experience or strong working knowledge of Snowflake administration.
- Experience with Matillion (Maia) preferably in administration, platform support, or production operations.
- Working knowledge of Power BI administration or support, including workspaces, gateways, refresh failures, access management, and capacity usage.
- Strong SQL & Python skills and understanding of data warehousing, ETL/ELT concepts, BI platforms, and cloud data platforms.
- Ability to troubleshoot job failures, report refresh failures, access issues, connectivity issues, configuration issues, and performance problems.
- Understanding of enterprise environments such as Dev, QA, UAT, and Production.
- Experience with production support, incident management, change management, and release management processes.
- Ability to document issues clearly, create support runbooks, and maintain operational procedures.
- Interest and practical ability to use AI tools, automation, and scripting to improve support and maintenance processes.
- Ability to learn and support additional platforms quickly with minimal training.
- Strong analytical, communication, ownership, and collaboration skills.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with Snowflake warehouses, resource monitors, role-based access control, query history, masking policies, and performance tuning.
- Experience with Matillion DPC or Matillion ETL administration.
- Experience with Power BI Service, Power BI gateways, Premium/Fabric capacity, dataset refreshes, workspace governance, and access controls.
- Exposure to AI-assisted engineering tools, automation frameworks, workflow agents, or support bots.
- Ability to build small automation utilities using Python, shell scripting, APIs, PowerShell, or similar tools.
- Exposure to Git, CI/CD, DevOps practices, deployment automation, or release management.

- Exposure to additional platforms such as Tableau, BusinessObjects, Collibra, Dataiku, EBX, Data Virtualization, or other enterprise data tools is a plus.
Base Pay Information
The national base pay range at the end is a good-faith estimate of what Delta Dental may pay for new hires. Actual pay may vary based on Delta Dental’s assessment of the candidate’s knowledge, skills, abilities (KSAs), related experience, education, certifications and ability to meet required minimum job qualifications. Other factors impacting pay include prevailing wages in the work location and internal equity.
