Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is looking to add a Software Engineer / Principal Software Engineer to join our team of qualified diverse individuals. The candidate should be a self-starter with familiarity working in an Integrated Product Team construct.
This Job will be primarily located in Palmdale CA, but may consider El Segundo, or Rancho Bernardo, CA as possible work locations.
Roles and Responsibilities will include:
- Design, develop, document, test and debug applications software and systems that contain logical and mathematical solutions.
- Conduct multidisciplinary research and collaborates with equipment designers and/or hardware engineers in the planning.
- Design, development, and utilization of electronic data processing systems for product and commercial software.
- Determine computer user needs; analyze system capabilities to resolve problems on program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques and controls.
- Prepare operating instructions.
- Design and develop compilers and assemblers, utility programs, and operating systems.
- Ensure software standards are met.
- General frequent use and application of technical standards, principles, theories, concepts and techniques.
- Demonstrates the skill and ability to perform moderately complex professional tasks.
- Provide solutions to a variety of technical problems of increasing scope and complexity as assigned
- Work is reviewed for soundness of technical judgment, overall adequacy and accuracy. Works under general supervision.
Impact:
- Contributes to the completion of milestones associated with specific projects. Failure to achieve results or inadequate work product should be detected by supervisory oversight but may cause delay in program schedules and allocation of additional resources
The selected candidate will be required to work full-time, on-site at our facility. There is no remote / hybrid / telework available for this position. Travel up to 25% may be required.
Basic Qualifications Software Engineer:
- Bachelor's Degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline and 2 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master's degree in a STEM discipline and 0 years related engineering experience.
- Experience with a Coding Language.
- Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a US Government Secret clearance and Special Access Program (SAP) within a reasonable amount of time as determined by business needs.
Basic Qualifications Principal Software Engineer:
- Bachelor's Degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline and 5 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master's degree in a STEM discipline and 3 years related engineering experience.
- Experience with a Coding Language.
- Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a US Government Secret clearance and Special Access Program (SAP) within a reasonable amount of time as determined by business needs.
Preferred Qualifications Both Levels:
- Current applicable Special Access Program (SAP) clearance.
- Active US Government clearance (with a background investigation within the past 5 years or enrolled into Continuous Evaluation).

Primary Level Salary Range: $91,800.00 - $137,600.00Secondary Level Salary Range: $114,000.00 - $171,000.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
