About the role

• The Platform & Tools team builds and maintains internal software used across the organization. That covers everything from pulling clean data off the test floor to the backend services, data infrastructure, dashboards, and SDK that make that data usable across the company. It's a small, high-leverage team: what you ship gets used by engineers, technicians, and leadership within days, not quarters, and you'll typically own a system end to end rather than one layer of it.

What you'll do

• Collect and structure data coming off test stations, and get it flowing reliably into shared storage and downstream pipelines 
• Build and evolve backend services: a database-backed GraphQL API, S3-based data/artifact storage, and the pipelines that feed them 
• Develop and maintain an SDK used by other engineering teams, so it needs to be well designed, well documented, and stable across releases 
• Build internal-facing visualization and analytics tools, so engineers and non-engineers can explore production and test data without writing code 
• Design, deploy, and operate AWS-based pipelines, from ingestion through processing to reporting 
• Own your systems end to end: architecture, implementation, deployment, monitoring, and triage when something breaks 
• Partner directly with hardware, firmware, and manufacturing engineers to turn loosely specified needs into reliable tooling 
• Make deliberate system design tradeoffs, including schema design, API contracts, storage choices, and scaling limits, and be able to explain the reasoning, not just deliver the result 

Required Qualifications

• Strong, professional-level Python. You design clean interfaces and maintainable code, not just scripts that work once. 
• Some C or C++. We develop and maintain an SDK, so you should be comfortable reading and writing lower-level code, not just scripting in Python. 
• System design fundamentals. You can reason about data models, API design, scalability, and failure modes before writing code. 
• Working DevOps knowledge. CI/CD, containerization, infra-as-code, monitoring/logging, and comfort owning a service once it's live. 
• Experience building and maintaining backend services/APIs, REST or GraphQL, backed by a real database 
• A track record of shipping tools other engineers actually use. You think about the person using your tool, not just the code behind it. 
• Comfortable working across a broad stack, including backend, data pipeline, lightweight frontend, and SDK work, rather than staying in one lane 

Preferred Qualifications

• Hands-on AWS experience, including Lambda, S3, API Gateway/CloudFront, ECS/EKS, CloudWatch, and IAM 
• Infrastructure-as-code experience with Terraform, CloudFormation, or CDK 
• GraphQL experience, including schema design, resolvers, and federation 
• Experience building internal dashboards or visualization tools, such as Streamlit, Dash, or Grafana 
• Containerized deployments using Docker, Kubernetes, or ECS
