What you will do:
- Design, develop, and maintain applications and services using Java and cloud-based technologies.
- Build and support REST APIs and backend services that enable critical business functionality.
- Develop solutions that support fleet utilization, inventory optimization, and operational decision-making.
- Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and business stakeholders to define requirements and deliver solutions.
- Utilize modern engineering tools, including AI-assisted development platforms such as GitHub Copilot and Cursor, to improve development velocity
- Design, implement and maintain applications that can be high-volume and low-latency
- Contribute to all stages of software development lifecycle
- Analyze user requirements to define business objectives
- Envisioning system features and functionality
- Develop and test software
- Identify and resolve any technical issues arising
- Create detailed design documentation
- Propose changes to current infrastructure
- Develop technical designs for application development
- Write well designed, testable code
- Conducting software analysis, programming, testing, and debugging
- Support continuous improvement, investigating alternatives and technologies, and presenting for architectural review
What We're Looking For:
- B.S. in Computer Science or equivalent
- Proficiency in one or more programming languages and common data structures / algorithms
- 2+ years of software engineering experience developing backend applications or services.
- Experience with Java or another modern object-oriented programming language.
- Experience building and consuming REST APIs.
- Experience working within cloud environments, preferably AWS.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and modern software development practices.
- Strong understanding of software engineering fundamentals, object-oriented design, and system architecture.
- Ability to write production-ready code with moderate supervision
- Ability to design systems of moderate complexity
- Ability to conduct code reviews and give sign-off for code merges
- Strong communication skills. You must be able to work with cross-functional partners to gather requirements and explain outcomes
- Strong product sense. You must be able to align your work with business objectives and make appropriate tradeoffs
- Learning mentality. You must be able to pick up new skills as needed and demonstrate a curiosity about new technologies
The starting salary is $100,000; actual salary will be determined based on relevant work experience
