About the job:

The Software Engineer designs, develops, tests, deploys, documents, maintains, and enhances complex and diverse software systems based upon documented requirements. These systems might include, but are not limited to, processing­ intensive analytics, novel algorithm development, manipulation of extremely large data sets, real-time systems, business management information systems, and systems which incorporate data repositories, data transport services, and application and systems development and monitoring.

  • Works individually or as part of a team. Reviews and tests software components for adherence to the design requirements and documents test results.

  • Resolves software problem reports.

  • Utilizes software development and software design methodologies appropriate to the development environment.

  • Provides specific input to the software components of system design to include hardware/software trade-offs, software reuse, use of Open-Source Software (OSS) and/or Commercial Off­ The-Shelf (COTS) Government Off-The-Shelf (GOTS) software in place of new development, and requirements analysis and synthesis from system level to individual software components.

  • Experience developing in Unix. Ability to perform shell scripting.

  • Working knowledge of Configuration Management (CM) tools and Web Services implementation.

Responsibilities:

  • Tasking includes authoring and maintaining benchmarks for high-performance computers; Writing test scripts; Creating visualizations of test data; Running tests on HPCs, gathering results, and authoring reports.

Qualification requirements include:

  • A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science or related discipline is required.

  • Four (4) years of software experience on projects with similar software processes may be substituted for a bachelor's degree.

Desired skills:

  • Strong C/C++, Bash and Python programming skills.

  • Experience developing with Java in a Unix environment.

  • Understanding of software unit and integration testing, bug reporting and tracking, documentation, and production software support and maintenance.

  • Comprehension of software engineering fundamentals, object-oriented programming, relational databases, scripting knowledge and an advanced level of development operations skill set.

  • Understanding of AGILE software development methodologies and use of standard software development tool suites.

  • Experience using Jupyter notebooks and Matplotlib is a bonus.

  • Familiarity with Rust, CUDA and HIP is a bonus.

  • Familiarity with MPI and/or SHMEM is a bonus.

Salary Range: $100,000 - $131,500

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, BCT-LLC considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
