The Pricing Team
Every time a merchant submits a transaction or uses one of Adyen’s services, the Adyen platform must determine whether to charge the merchant and how much they should be charged. In many cases, what exact price a merchant pays to use Adyen’s services depends on how much volume they have already processed and/or the exact details of the contract they signed with Adyen.
The Pricing team owns the technical components that allow all products at Adyen to be priced. Commercial users interact with Pricing’s products to create and sign deals, Support uses our products to answer merchant questions about their pricing, and the rest of the Adyen platform relies on us to receive up-to-date, contractually accurate, and performant data on how every single event running through our system should be priced.
The work we are doing is truly central to Adyen’s ability to generate revenue and we are making a significant and principled investment into new and improved services to support Adyen’s and our merchants’ growth.
What you’ll do
- Take technical projects from an idea all the way through implementation into production.
- Own a set of full-stack internal tools as well as a mission-critical API.
- Contribute to the team’s strategy and technical direction.
- Work to build APIs that support not only Adyen’s current volume but will scale as the company grows.
- Understand a complex domain area and use this expertise to design products that make that complexity easy for our users to interact with.
Who you are
- Able to contribute to both technical design and implementation.
- Can understand complex business requirements and has a keen attention to detail.
- Familiarity with complex large-scale distributed systems is a plus.
- You have great communication skills and the ability to articulate complex technical concepts in a way that makes them seem simple.
- Open to some domestic and international travel.
Required technical qualifications:
- Demonstrated expertise in working on Java-based web services (e.g. REST APIs) in either a backend or full-stack role.
- Experienced in working with relational databases (e.g. PostgreSQL).

This role is based out of our Chicago office. We have a hybrid workplace and value in-person collaboration; this role does not offer relocation assistance or remote-only.
