Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) seeks professional, innovative, and detail-oriented individuals for Software Engineering Internships. The ideal candidate for this position will be able to work part-time during the school year and full-time during the summer in our Pullman, WA office. A typical day as a Software Engineering Intern might include the following:
Providing support to SEL engineers and customers.
Supporting SEL’s software development processes.
Verifying software meets requirements, documenting and communication test results.
Performing testing on new and existing technologies.
Embracing the mindset: Understand. Create. Simplify.
Applying SEL Values, Principles of Operations, and World Class Manufacturing Principles.
Performing other duties as assigned.
This job might be for you if:
You are a current student pursuing a degree in computer science or equivalent degree
You have the ability to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities
You have programming experience in C# or Go programming languages and experience using a variety of scripting languages
You have the ability to execute and document defined testing procedures
You have working knowledge of emulators and logic analyzers
You have the ability to use MS Windows, MS Visio and serial port terminal emulation software
You have practical knowledge of 3-phase power systems and SEL protective relays & automation controllers
You have experience using revision control and source code management systems
You have strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills
You have the ability and passion to work cooperatively in a team environment
Location Information: Pullman, WA
All SEL internships are 100% onsite. This position is based in our Pullman, WA headquarters. You’ll enjoy Pullman if you enjoy vibrant college towns and abundant access to the pacific northwest’s world class outdoor recreation areas while still having easy access to larger metro areas.

Pay Range Data ($19.50 - $29.50 per hour) - Our intern pay is determined based on the internship role (the work you would be doing) and your year in school (when you plan to graduate). Talk to your recruiter if you are curious about the rate for your year in school.
School matters. SEL managers work with their interns to arrange flexible schedules that accommodate classes and studying while working part-time during the school year.
