Leidos has an exciting opening. We are seeking a skilled Software Engineer Intern pursuing a Master’s Degree in Computer Science or similar discipline. You will develop high-quality applications using a state-of-the-art technology stack in support of an emerging NMEC program. The DOMEX Technology Platform (DTP) program is a next generation platform utilizing AI to provide cutting edge data enrichment, triage, and analytics capabilities to Defense and Intelligence Community partners. Initially, work will be conducted remotely. Following graduation and approval to work at our client location, contingent on obtaining and maintaining a TS/SCI clearance, the primary place of performance will on-site in Bethesda, MD.
Primary Responsibilities:
You will work closely with end users, analysts, software and data engineers, and data scientists on the following key tasks:
Develop and maintain web applications using Javascript and/or Python.
Coding, testing, and debugging new and/or existing applications.
Conducting thorough unit testing via automated tooling.
Collaborating with other team members (internal and external) to ensure optimal performance and usability.
Peer reviewing code written by fellow team members.
Utilizing virtualization technologies like Docker and Podman.
Basic Qualifications:
Pursuing a Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or a scientific or technical discipline.
Proficiency in a least one programming language.
Understanding of data structures such as arrays and algorithms such as those used in sorting.
Basic debugging and testing skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to write well-documented code.
US Citizenship Required.
Ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI with CI Polygraph clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
A genuine passion for coding.
Experience with writing unit tests.
Experience with writing services in Python.
Familiarity with NoSQL datastores such as Elasticsearch.
Familiarity with SQL databases.
Familiarity with performance optimization techniques.
Up to date with emerging technologies.
