We are seeking a temporary, Full-Time Software Engineer intern for approximately 10 weeks.


You’ll work alongside the best and the brightest engineering talent in the healthcare IT industry. We have opportunities in a wide range of areas including development, design, search, platform, test, quality, big data, front end, and back end. As a core participant of your team, you’ll estimate engineering efforts, prioritize projects, plan implementations, and triage production issues. You need to be dynamic, collaborative, and curious as we build new experiences, improve existing products, and develop distributed systems powering HHAeXchange’s unique platform for all the caregivers, providers and payers in-home care industry.

Essential Job Duties

  • Design and development efforts resulting in well-structured, reusable and maintainable code for the commercial web applications
  • Working with the Product and UX team to understand customer requirements, and collaborating on the design of new features
  • Be a self-learner with the ability to pick up and leverage new web technologies.
  • Implement industry best practices related to web application development concepts, design, and architecture.
  • Apply corporate technical standards, procedures, and policies to resolve incidents and issues promptly
  • Assure a high standard of quality in your work and peers on your team via good coding practices, process improvements, clean designs, smart testing, and review practices.

Required Education, Experience, Certifications and Skills

  • Experience with Ruby/Rails or Elixir/Phoenix 
  • Knowledge of Test-Driven Development
  • Knowledge of MySQL/PostgreSQL or other relational databases and ability to write SQL queries 
  • Knowledge or Interest in any QA automation frameworks
  • Understand design patterns and object-oriented methodologies for web applications
  • Understand data structure, multithreading, collections, exception handling
  • Understand web application security
  • Understand Software Development Life Cycle methodologies like Agile / Scrum
  • Experience with source control and build tools.
  • Strong debugging and troubleshooting skill 
  • Strong written and verbal skills with the ability to communicate effectively
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Prior experience in the Healthcare industry is preferred. 

The base wage range for this US-based, full-time, and non-exempt position is $18.00-$20.00/hour. An employee’s exact starting wage will be based on various various factors including but not limited to experience, education, training, merit, location, and the ability to exemplify the HHAeXchange core values.
