Job Description:
The Big Data team at Poshmark plays a central role in enabling data-driven decision making
across the organization. Our mission is to build a world-class data platform that democratizes
data and powers key business and ML initiatives.
We are looking for a passionate Data Engineering Intern who is eager to learn and support the
development of scalable, real-time and batch data pipelines. As an intern, you will work closely
with senior engineers and contribute to building reliable data systems used across Analytics,
Data Science, and Engineering teams.
What You’ll Work On
Assist in designing and developing data pipelines for real-time and batch processing.
Support integration of external data sources (e.g., APIs, S3 transfers, Kafka streams).
Contribute to building ETLs using technologies like Spark, Airflow, Databricks, and AWS services.
Help maintain Hive and Redshift tables, data workflows, and internal dashboards.
Write clean, modular code in Python, Scala, or Ruby.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements.
Gain experience working with large-scale datasets (terabytes to petabytes).
Assist in monitoring and troubleshooting data pipeline issues.
What We’re Looking For
Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or a
related field.
Strong understanding of programming fundamentals (Python/Scala preferred), Computer fundamentals(Data structures, Algorithms)
Basic knowledge of SQL and working with databases.
Familiarity (even academic exposure) with Big Data concepts — Spark, Hadoop, Kafka, cloud services, etc.
Interest in building scalable data systems and solving data problems.
Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Willingness to learn, ask questions, and work in a collaborative environment.
Bonus Skills (Nice to Have)
Experience with Google Apps Script, Databricks, or API integrations.
Exposure to AWS technologies like S3, EMR, Lambda.
Coursework/projects involving Big Data tools (Spark, Hadoop, Kafka).
