The Role

Description:
 

The selected candidate will join the CME Technology Referential Data Services team in Chicago as a Software Engineer III, supporting the Access & Onboarding Product for Customer Portfolio. The Software Engineer III engineers secure, scalable and reliable technology solutions, with appropriate mentoring, to advance CMEG in the global marketplace and serve risk management needs of customers around the world.

 

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Designs, develops, documents, troubleshoots and debugs web applications using modern technologies.

  • Demonstrates skill in language proficiency.

  • Optimizes code for key performance metrics.

  • Writes application modules and unit tests with minimal guidance.

  • Conducts system-wide testing and supports integration testing.

  • Provides input for code reviews and helps with environment setup, build deployments, release notes and notifications.

  • Reviews code to proactively identify and mitigate potential issues and defects and helps to identify sources of defects as well as troubleshoots various forms of code.

  • Work with business to define/refine/finalize requirements.

  • Uses design tools to frequently share and communicate design ideas.

  • Intermediate knowledge of database SQL, as well as basic database modeling and elementary tuning.

  • Troubleshoots and extend real-time support for the customer facing environments.

  • Uses patterns frequently, contributing to best practice and process enhancements.

  • Embraces and enforces CME Group SDLC and information security standards.

 

 Essential Criteria:

  • 5+ years experience as a Full Stack developer, engaging in Front-End and Back-End development.

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent/better strongly preferred, but substantial relevant experience could substitute.

  • Hands-on experience with Java and Spring Framework.

  • Experience in React, JavaScript (ES6), HTML, CSS, JSON and related technologies.

  • Experience building and bundling web application artifacts with tools like Webpack.

  • Experience with web application communication using RESTful APIs.

  • Experience with making significant contributions to both technical approach & deliveries.

  • Proficient with SCM and build tools Git and Maven.

 

Desirable Criteria:

  • Experience with Google Cloud Platform.

  • Experience with fault tolerant, distributed, microservice architectures.

  • Experience using Confluence, JIRA, or other Atlassian tools.

  • Experience with UI frameworks and libraries including Redux (Redux-Form & Redux Saga).

  • Understanding and experience of Agile Methodologies and Product Oriented Model.

  • Knowledgeable in web application security and mitigating vulnerabilities.

  • Engagement in developing and automating solutions directly related to Continuous Integration/ Continuous Delivery and infrastructure automation.

  • Experience in working with remote teams, different time zones, and consultants.

The pay range for this role is $95,800-$159,600. Actual salary offered will be dependent on a wide array of factors including but not limited to: relevant experience, skills, education and comparison to internal employees (where relevant).
