Software Engineer III

Role description: The Software Engineer III will be responsible for developing software that either improves internal efficiency or supports delivery of client services.

Role accountabilities:

• Able to write modular, maintainable code with guidance. Strong technical skills.
• Ability to clearly communicate.
• Leads design of small to medium projects with feedback from other engineers. 
• Show understanding of architectural concerns.
• Leaves code in substantially better shape than before.
• Can write good unit tests.
• Rarely introduces production bugs .
• Contributes to code reviews.
• Accountable to scrum team to deliver on commitments and provide mentorship and supervision to Software Engineers and Associate Software Engineers.
• Capable of working on medium projects independently.
• Able to troubleshoot production issues efficiently.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Strong experience in software engineering, application development or related technology disciplines, with a proven ability to contribute to the design, development and support of enterprise technology solutions.
• Demonstrated experience working within Agile software development teams, contributing effectively to sprint planning, delivery activities, testing and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Recognized as a strong and reliable member of a Scrum team, consistently delivering high quality work, collaborating effectively with colleagues and contributing to successful team outcomes.
• Strong understanding of software development principles, coding standards and engineering best practices, with the ability to develop maintainable, scalable and secure software solutions.
• Experience contributing to the development, enhancement and support of applications, services or digital products within a structured software engineering environment.
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills, with the ability to investigate technical issues, identify root causes and implement practical solutions that support business and user needs.
• Positive and proactive approach to feedback and professional development, with a willingness to learn from others, accept coaching and continuously strengthen technical and professional capabilities.
• Experience working collaboratively with software engineers, architects, product owners and business stakeholders to deliver solutions aligned with business objectives and technical standards.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively within multidisciplinary and geographically distributed teams.
• Experience supporting Agile and DevOps practices, including collaboration, automation, quality assurance and continuous delivery principles.
• Ability to manage assigned work independently while contributing effectively to team objectives and shared delivery commitments.
• Strong attention to detail, with a focus on code quality, testing, documentation and adherence to engineering standards and governance requirements.
• Demonstrated commitment to fostering a collaborative, inclusive and continuous learning culture aligned with the Arcadis Leadership profile of being curious, driving success and igniting passion.
• Degree level education in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology or another relevant discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• Professional certifications in software development, cloud technologies, Agile methodologies or related disciplines are desirable, together with experience supporting enterprise software solutions within complex organizational environments.
