The Software Engineer III is a senior technical specialist responsible for the design, development, support, integration, and continuous improvement of complex enterprise applications and systems. The role combines software engineering, systems analysis, production support, integrations, and DevOps responsibilities, requiring a hands-on professional who can independently deliver scalable solutions while ensuring system stability and performance. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities are critical, as the role includes support of business-critical production environments.
Key ResponsibilitiesSolution Design & Development- Lead the analysis, design, development, testing, and implementation of enterprise software solutions.
- Translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions and system architectures.
- Develop clean, maintainable, and secure code using modern development practices.
- Produce technical specifications, UML diagrams, and system documentation.
- Drive adherence to engineering standards, best practices, and quality assurance processes.
- Collaborate with Architects, Analysts, Designers, Testers, and business stakeholders throughout the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
- Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve complex production issues and system defects.
- Perform root cause analysis and implement preventative improvements.
- Support and enhance existing applications, integrations, and databases.
- Participate in after-hours support, deployments, and release activities when required.
- Design, develop, and support integration solutions using REST APIs and SOAP services.
- Perform and oversee unit, integration, performance, and automated testing.
- Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, release management, and deployment processes.
- Manage source control, code reviews, and development governance.
- Act as a technical lead on large and complex initiatives.
- Mentor and support Software Engineers I and II.
- Lead code reviews and drive engineering best practices.
- Contribute to Communities of Practice and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Degree or Diploma in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- Agile Foundation Training.
- Security training, including OWASP Top 10.
- Relevant software development, design, or technical certifications.
- 5+ years' experience in software development.
- Experience delivering complex enterprise applications.
- Experience supporting production systems and troubleshooting critical incidents.
- Experience working within Agile and DevOps environments.
- Experience with enterprise integrations and release management.
- Retail industry exposure advantageous.
