Carry out critical tech solutions across multiple technical areas as an integral part of an agile team
As a Software Engineer III at JPMorgan Chase within the Consumer and community banking technology team, you are responsible for setting up, managing, and evangelizing the culture, practices, processes, and tools that enable the business of Database development & maintenance, modernization/migration, and support/operations, and you have a deep understanding of agile and the various points at which development and operations could be improved by better process improvement, tools, automation, and metrics that can be gathered to improve JPMC transformation.
- Expertise in database design, infrastructure architecture disciplines, and business processes
- Ability to work collaboratively in teams and develop meaningful relationships to achieve common goals.
- Leverages enterprise-authorized AI coding assist tools within the work environment to improve code quality, delivery speed, and productivity across complex deliverables (e.g., code generation/refactoring, unit test creation, documentation), while validating outputs through peer review, automated testing, and secure coding standards; contributes learnings and reusable patterns to improve broader team effectiveness
- Applies knowledge of tools within the Software Development Life Cycle toolchain, including enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to improve the value realized by automation
- Produces architecture and design artifacts for complex applications while being accountable for ensuring design constraints are met by software code development
- Gathers, analyzes, synthesizes, and develops visualizations and reporting from large, diverse data sets in service of continuous improvement of software applications and systems
- Proactively identifies hidden problems and patterns in data and uses these insights to drive improvements to coding hygiene and system architecture
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 3+ years applied experience on Database Administration/Data Engineering
- Database design/development, Integration, Performance monitoring & tuning, Systems re-engineering and Operations support
- Expert knowledge of IBM DB2 for z/OS along with Mainframe related tools such as BMC, CA Platinum for Monitoring, Mainview, SMPE, ISPF, SMS, SMF etc.
- Strong experience in IBM Infosphere for Queue Replication
- Experience with AI coding assistants for Code Development. Hands-on knowledge on Python.
- Capable of creating the roadmap, processes, best practices, standards, and strategies for continuous improvement, resiliency, and scalability
- Experience with Atlassian tools like Jira, Confluence
- 2+ years of experience leading transformational cross-functional IT initiatives
- With a proven background on database engineering, automation, monitoring, performance engineering design and implementations
- Hands-on experience using enterprise-authorized AI-assisted software development tools within the work environment (e.g., for coding, test creation, troubleshooting, or documentation) with demonstrated ability to critically evaluate, validate, and refine AI-generated outputs for correctness, performance, and security
Understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity considerations, secure handling of inputs/outputs, and adherence to resiliency and security expectations; ability to guide peers on safe and effective usage within team practices
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Knowledge of industry-wide technology trends and best practices
Knowledge on Cloud / Distributed Database technology and Kafka is a plus
