Position Overview:

Mastercam seeks a Software Engineer III who works in a constantly evolving Agile environment, contributing solutions that address manufacturing challenges.

The Software Engineer III proactively owns tasks to create and maintain software components while applying modern development practices and technologies to complex challenges in a large codebase.

Key Responsibilities:

Software Development & Toolpath Systems

  • Design, develop, and test software to resolve defects and implement user stories for toolpath systems.
  • Design and implement algorithms for efficiently driving milling machines.
  • Write, size, accurately detail, and break down stories and defects with the team.
  • Communicate project status and pertinent details to stakeholders.
  • Participate actively in planning meetings related to assigned areas.
  • Coordinate with developers and contribute to solution design and implementation decisions.
  • Conduct peer reviews independently.
  • Apply modern development practices to complex domain problems.
  • Develop and maintain expertise in the team’s area of responsibility.
  • Commit to test-driven development and strengthen knowledge of software development tools, technologies, and processes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Mathematics, or Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • 6-9 years of experience developing commercial CAD/CAM applications in C++; C# experience is a plus.
  • Experience with data-parallel programming.
  • Experience with linear algebra, computational geometry, and algorithm development.
  • Experience developing for Microsoft Windows using Visual Studio.
  • Experience with source control, peer reviews, unit testing, and Agile software development.
  • Familiarity with iterative computational techniques such as the Conjugate Gradient method.
  • Experience with CNC machining, GPGPU or SIMD code, parallel C++ design patterns, computational physics, machining algorithms, mesh processing, or FEM is preferred.
  • Experience leveraging AI-enabled tools or automation to improve productivity and operational effectiveness, or a demonstrated ability to rapidly learn, evaluate, and apply such technologies at scale.

  • Solid understanding of object-oriented development.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with technical and non-technical colleagues.
  • Proven ability to drive projects to completion and deliver high-quality software.
  • Strong expertise in a target team domain area.

This role will focus on integrating an acquired company (to be acquired) to Mastercam per Sandvik's and Mastercam's program and processes - from a compliance and financial controls perspective.  

As the integration work will go down over time, the role is expected to take broader BA wide responsibilities e.g. under the common Sandvik compliance program (and also locally for the Hub and our other local business).
