The Partner Integrations team builds the experiences that connect Box with the applications our customers use every day—Google, Microsoft, Slack, Claude, ChatGPT, and more. We power seamless collaboration through reliable APIs, scalable frameworks, and increasingly, AI-driven capabilities. We are a fast-paced, high-impact team enabling Box and its partners to create world-class enterprise solutions that delight and empower customers. As a Software Engineer III, you’ll play a key role in delivering and evolving these high-impact integrations.

This role is full-stack with a strong emphasis on backend development. You’ll design and build complex services and frontend components, and collaborate directly with internal teams and external partner engineers to ship secure, performant, and delightful experiences for millions of users.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Collaborate with partner engineering teams (e.g., Google, Microsoft, Anthropic, OpenAI) and internal stakeholders to scope, implement, and launch features.
  • Work with the Product Managers to understand and execute on the strategic roadmap for Partner Integrations.
  • Design, build, and maintain backend services and APIs for strategic partner integrations, with a focus on ensuring performance, reliability, and scalability.
  • Contribute to frontend components and integration touch-points as needed to deliver end-to-end features.
  • Evolve integration frameworks that standardize patterns and accelerate delivery across projects.
  • Write clear technical designs, participate in code reviews, and uphold high engineering standards and security practices.
  • Identify and drive opportunities to simplify architectures, reduce operational load, and improve developer experience.
  • Support emerging AI-related integration projects in partnership with product and platform teams.
  • Participate in our on-call rotation, available at all times while on-call to help respond to and triage any issues that arise.

WHO YOU ARE

  • 3+ years of professional software engineering experience with a strong backend focus.
  • Proficiency in Java for building APIs and services; familiarity with Node.js/JavaScript/TypeScript a plus.
  • Experience designing and operating RESTful APIs and integrating with third-party platforms.
  • Comfortable working across the stack, including contributing to frontend code (e.g., JavaScript/TypeScript and a modern framework).
  • Strong communicator who can collaborate across time zones and with external partners.
  • Demonstrated ownership in ambiguous environments with an ability to learn new technologies quickly.
  • Familiarity with cloud services, CI/CD, testing strategies, and observability practices.
  • Nice to have: experience with enterprise collaboration ecosystems (Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, Slack, etc.) and/or AI integration frameworks such as MCP or A2A.
