As a Mainframe DB2 Database Administrator at JPMorgan Chase within the Consumer & Community Banking division, your mission is to help our team of innovators and technologists toward creating next-level solutions that improve the way our business is run. Your deep knowledge of database design, development, maintenance, and operations will help your team raise their game, meeting your standards, as well as satisfying both business and functional requirements.
This position is for a Mainframe DB2 Database Administrator (MF zOS DB2 DBA ) a member of the Database Administration team in the Consumer & Community Banking (CCB) division at JP Morgan Chase & Co.
Job responsibilities:
  • Manage Administration, design, implementation and support highly available and scalable Mainframe DB2 database solutions
  • Implement data models, database designs, data access and table maintenance codes
  • Implement and maintaining the DB2 Databases with High Availability features using Data Partitioning and Database replications
  • Resolve database performance issues, database capacity issues, replication and other data issues
  • Work with Information Architects and Database Designers to implement the physical data model
  • Develop the database performance monitoring process and analyze data for optimization opportunities
  • Provide up to Level 2 on call support for the 24/7 DB2 database environment
  • Manage on-site backup and recovery process

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills:
  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 3+ years applied experience.
  • Expertise in database design, infrastructure architecture disciplines, and business processes
  • Ability to work collaboratively in teams and develop meaningful relationships to achieve common goals.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related field or the foreign equivalent.
  • Mainframe DB2 DBA experience with an emphasis on Database Administration/Engineering
  • Database design/development, Integration, Performance monitoring & tuning, Systems re-engineering and Operations support
  • Expert knowledge of DB2 for z/OS along with mainframe related tools such as BMC, CA Platinum for monitoring, SMPE, ISPF, SMS, SMF
  • Knowledge of IBM Replication CDC , QREP
  • Experience with Atlassian tools like Jira, Confluence
  • With a proven background on database engineering, automation, monitoring, performance engineering design and implementations
  • Strong execution mind-set to manage and track progress against transformation goals

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills:
  • Knowledge on Cassandra, Cockroach and, PostgreSQL is a plus
  • Knowledge of industry-wide technology trends and best practices
  • Nice to have skills in REXX & M
  • Capable of creating the roadmap, processes, best practices, standards, and strategies for continuous improvement, resiliency, and scalability
