Job Description
We have an exciting and rewarding opportunity for you to take your software engineering career to the next level.
As a Software Engineer III at JPMorgan Chase within the Community & Consumer Bank, you serve as a seasoned member of an agile team to design and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. You are responsible for carrying out critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm's business objectives.
In this software engineering group focused on Site-Reliability and Automation Engineering, this group looks for people who are passionate around solving business problems through innovation and engineering best practices. This role ensures critical Engineering automations that help keep cutting edge applications with strict real-time SLAs. The role requires a broader skill set on top of Operational support capabilities and experiences.
Job Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and fix application issues in Hadoop and its eco-system.
  • Manage Orchestration (e.g., Autosys, Airflow, Control-M, Oozie, etc.). Of those, Autosys experience would be valuable to create automation.
  • Responsible for managing observability tools like App Dynamix, Grafana, Splunk and know-how on SLI, SLO, SLAs and KPIs.
  • Manage SQL and non-SQL ON-PREM and AWS Databases (Oracle, GOS, Cassandra)
  • Responsible for release management and SDLC including Jules and Jenkins pipeline deployments
  • Manage and coordinate Incident management tools and follow through to RCA finding and resolution.
  • Execute creative software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems
  • Develop secure high-quality production code, and reviews and debugs code written by others
  • Identify opportunities to eliminate or automate remediation of recurring issues to improve overall operational stability of software applications and systems
  • Lead evaluation sessions with external vendors, startups, and internal teams to drive outcomes-oriented probing of architectural designs, technical credentials, and applicability for use within existing systems and information architecture
  • Add to team culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect while working collaboratively in a team with fellow developers, sharing ideas to solve complex and challenging business problems.


Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 3+ years of applied experience
  • Experience with database technologies - Oracle/MySQL, Cassandra
  • Experience/Usage with these Languages - Java, Scala, Python, Shell Scripts
  • Familiar with development tools such as Eclipse, Bitbucket, Sqldeveloper/Toad, JIRA, Jules, Jenkins, Hbase, Spark-shell, Hive, etc.
  • Knowledge of AWS is a prerequisite
  • Familiar with Spinnaker, Jenkins, Terraform and similar SDLC and Monitoring Tools (Cloud Watch, Data Dog, Dynatrace).
  • Prior demonstrated Devops experience is a must.
  • Hands-on practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
  • Proficiency in automation and continuous delivery methods
  • Proficient in all aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle
  • Advanced understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and Security


Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Expertise in Hive, Spark Queries and use of AWS environment (S3, EMR, EBS, RDS) is a plus.
  • Hands on Tools Development using any programming language - Automation aptitude is a key focus.
  • Experience with big data stack -- Spark, Hadoop, Hive, Hbase, Impala, Kafka, Cloudera/Hortonworks is a big plus
  • An AWS certification in architecture would be an advantage (Assoc. Arch or Dev)
  • Some hands on AWS capability with CLI or SDK
  • Knowledge of building Rest API (microservices) with Spring, Spring boot is a plus
  • Grafana and Splunk dashboard experience is a plus.
