The Role

We are looking for a Full-Stack Software Engineer, with focus on frontend, to join our Billing, Authorization & Fraud Prevention team. Our business is rapidly expanding, and we’re developing a best-in-class billing and payment processing system to support new products and pricing models. At the same time, fraud is rapidly increasing in the shipping industry, and we are looking for someone to help build fraud detection and prevention systems to protect ourselves and our customers from bad actors. As a full stack engineer on our team, you will work on APIs and customer facing features to improve their billing experience at Shippo.
Shipping & Handling responsibilities:
- Transform complex requirements into elegant, performant user interfaces
- Implement end-to-end solutions for new pages, features, and experiences
- Contribute to reusable components that enhance product consistency
- Deliver robust, thoroughly tested code while taking full accountability for features from inception to production
- Support QA initiatives to strengthen test automation
- Contribute to architectural discussions and technical breakdowns that drive the product’s scalability
- Provide technical insights during planning and review discussions to streamline implementation
- Participate in on-call support rotation
- Develop and lead execution against both short-term and long-term roadmaps
- Work with our product and design teams to refine the scope of new products and capabilities
- Collaborate with fellow engineers to create milestones that support product requirements
- Contribute to tools that accurately model and analyze user behavior
- Implement tools and telemetry to better understand technical and business impact
Do you tick the boxes?
- BSc in a STEM field, with a preference for computer science and software engineering or equivalent work experience
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in software development
- Passion for building user-friendly and reliable applications
- Experience working across both backend and frontend development, including APIs, services, databases, and modern UI frameworks
- Proficiency with React and Typescript
- Familiarity with python, django, SQL databases (Postgres) and kubernetes
- Bonus if you have experience with Go, AWS, billing and payment systems (Stripe)
- Strong collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Clear communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to different audiences.

Our people, much like the packages we help ship, are all over the world. This means, through our remote-first program, “Shippos Everywhere”, our roles can be based anywhere in the US with the exception of Delaware, Nevada, Ohio, Oregon, Hawaii, New Mexico and West Virginia and many roles can be based internationally.
For locations outside of the US and Ireland, the employment contracts are powered by Remote.com. What we want to emphasize is that you can be successful at Shippo regardless of location.
