As a Software Engineer III at JPMorgan Chase within the Employee Platforms, you serve as a seasoned member of an agile team to design and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. You are responsible for carrying out critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm's business objectives.
Job responsibilities
- xecutes software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with the ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems.
- Creates secure and high-quality production code and maintains algorithms that run synchronously with appropriate systems.
- Produces architecture and design artifacts for complex applications while being accountable for ensuring design constraints are met by software code development.
- Gathers, analyzes, synthesizes, and develops visualizations and reports from large, diverse data sets to continuously improve software applications and systems.
- Proactively identifies hidden problems and patterns in data and uses these insights to drive improvements in coding hygiene and system architecture.
- Works in an Agile development environment with other team members, including Product Managers, UX Designers, QA Engineers, and other Software Engineers.
- Follows clean coding principles and test-driven development.
- Builds reusable code and libraries for future use.
- Optimizes applications for quality, reliability, and scalability.
- Conducts thorough testing of user interfaces on multiple platforms to ensure all designs render correctly and systems function properly.
- Collaborates and incorporates non-functional requirements, including telemetry, monitoring, alerting, and logging, into software solutions.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts, with 3+ years of applied experience.
- Hands-on practical experience in system design, application development, testing, and ensuring operational stability.
- Proficient in coding in one or more languages, such as JavaScript or TypeScript.
- Experience in developing, debugging, and maintaining code in a large corporate environment using one or more modern programming languages and database querying languages.
- Comprehensive knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
- Strong understanding of front-end coding and development technologies.
- Proficiency in TypeScript, HTML, and CSS.
- Expert knowledge of React.js, Redux, and React Hooks.
- Proficiency in using Git for source control.
- Practice of clean code principles and test-driven development (TDD).
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills:
- Familiarity with Electron & AngularJS
- Full stack development with Node/.NET/Java
- Familiarity with working in event driven environments
- A good understanding of cross-browser compatibility issues and their solution
