About the Role
The Foundational Infrastructure Compute team provides cloud-native compute infrastructure, Kubernetes platform tooling, and automation that empowers Compass teams to build and deploy products securely, efficiently, and with minimal operational overhead.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to make a direct impact on our core compute platform. You will work with modern technologies like Kubernetes, KEDA, and Argo to build and evolve a multi-cloud platform that powers engineering teams at scale. This is a hands-on role perfect for someone passionate about platform engineering, compute infrastructure, and solving interesting technical challenges..
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with senior engineers to build, scale, deploy and maintain our Kubernetes compute platform using Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
- Help build and evolve a scalable, reliable Kubernetes platform on AWS EKS to power containerized workloads across engineering teams.
- Use monitoring and observability tools to ensure system health and help troubleshoot production incidents.
- Automate manual processes and operational tasks using programming languages like Go or Python.
- Contribute to our “golden path” for software development across the company.
- Partner with application teams to understand their compute requirements, providing guidance and support to help them best leverage the Kubernetes platform.
- Contribute to documentation for our infrastructure designs and operational procedures.
Basic Qualifications
- BS in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
- 2+ years of software development experience with exposure to languages like Go, Python, and/or Java.
- Demonstrated experience provisioning cloud compute resources and Kubernetes
- A foundational understanding of cloud computing concepts (e.g., VMs, networking, storage) and experience with a major cloud provider (AWS preferred).
- A strong desire to learn and grow in the fields of platform engineering, compute infrastructure, and cloud-native technologies.
Preferred Qualifications
- Hands-on experience with IaC tools, especially Terraform or OpenTofu.
- Familiarity with Argo workflows, KEDA, and VPA for orchestration, autoscaling, and resource optimization.
- Exposure to cloud networking concepts (e.g., VPC, DNS, Load Balancers).
Compensation: The base pay range for this position is $126,990-$141,100; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Bonuses and restricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of benefits. Base pay is based on market location. Minimum wage for the position will always be met.
