Zendesk is seeking a Software Engineer to join our Engineering Productivity team in Pune, APAC! In this role, you will tackle technical challenges and contribute to enhancing our engineering processes.

We are a newly formed Engineering Productivity Team based in Pune, dedicated to enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of engineering teams across Zendesk. Our focus is on developing and implementing advanced engineering development tools and processes that drive productivity improvements, optimize performance, and reduce costs. By introducing innovative solutions and seamless workflows, we empower engineering teams to deliver high-quality products faster and with greater impact. What you get to do every day:

  • Build robust configuration-driven repository and team provisioning in Github through integrations with our Identity Provider.

  • Design and implement tools to predict and prevent CI/CD platform abuse, optimizing cost and resource allocation based on usage patterns, improving the reliability and cost of the CI platforms.

  • Develop and deploy AI-driven solutions to enhance engineering productivity, such as intelligent code analysis, automated root cause identification, or smart test prioritization tools.

  • Support Senior Engineers in authoring RFCs to propose enhancements to systems or processes, and assist in getting alignment with Security, Engineering, and relevant stakeholders.

  • Contribute to the design and implementation of proactive monitoring and reporting systems to improve observability and help reduce MTTR, potentially leveraging machine learning for anomaly detection.

  • Participate in thorough design and code reviews to maintain high development standards, ensuring the code is clean, efficient, and maintainable.

  • Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams to help translate business needs into technical requirements.

  • Stay informed about emerging technologies and trends, especially in the Generative AI and MLOps spaces, sharing insights to enhance team capabilities.

  • Engage in daily stand-up meetings to discuss progress, challenges, and priorities with your team.

  • Participate in brainstorming sessions to identify opportunities for improving workflows and tools, with a strong emphasis on AI-powered automation.

  • Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code while adhering to industry best practices.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues, ensuring the reliability and performance of engineering systems.

  • Develop and implement AI-powered applications and tools, leveraging knowledge of generative AI and development assistants like Claude, Cursor, or Copilot.

What you bring to the role:

  • 3-6 years of industry experience

  • Demonstrated expertise in AI concepts and experience in building applications or tools using AI, including proficiency with AI coding assistants like Claude, Cursor, or Copilot.

  • Experience in building and maintaining deployment pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, CircleCI, Github Actions, Travis).

  • Experience with working with one or more public clouds (AWS, GCP, Azure).

  • Experience with infrastructure automation tools like Terraform, Crossplane, or CloudFormation.

  • A strong understanding of containers and experience with Kubernetes & Docker.

  • Good understanding of DevOps practices and methodologies, with an interest in applying MLOps principles to engineering productivity.

  • Proficient with any of the following programming languages Go, Python, Ruby.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.

  • A demonstrated willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and tools, particularly in the rapidly evolving AI landscape.

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal—you’ll be collaborating closely with people in multiple time zones.

  • Ability to work independently and in a team, with a proactive approach to improving processes and outcomes.
