An opportunity has arisen for a Software Engineer to join our team in Kuala Lumpur.
 

The Software Engineer will be responsible for coding, debugging, maintaining, testing, implementing and validating applications whilst collaborating and communicating with appropriate parties. They will further maintain and utilise application and programming documents in the development of code, recommend changes in development, maintenance and system standards, and create appropriate deliverables and develop application implementation plans throughout the life cycle.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Develop and test configuration scripts as per client requirements.

  • Perform software development as per specifications.

  • Abide to and enforce coding standards.

  • Perform software testing and support any related Quality Assurance (QA) and User Acceptance Test (UAT) activities. Be able to lead such activities where required.

  • Provide support to different testing phases - regression, smoke, UAT, integration, stress etc.

  • Provide client training as required.

  • Provide support and guidance to other team members, on-call, in office or on-site when required.

  • Additional work outside regularly scheduled/ normal business hours may be required.

The successful candidate should have the following experience and skills:

  • Minimum 2+ years of professional experience in IT industry with Bachelor’s degree.

  • Solid programming/development experience on RDBMS stored procedures (Oracle PL/SQL) (essential).

  • Oracle Database administration: installation, database creation and managing database objects (desirable).

  • Knowledge in JAVA (added advantage).

  • Experience in building REST API (added advantage).

  • Experience in using Spring Boot (added advantage).

  • Familiarity with Card Payment Industry (added advantage).

  • Familiarity with enterprise level application (essential).

  • Ability to learn new technologies (desirable).

  • Ability to identify and solve technical issues (essential).

  • Comfortable working with teams in remote location (essential).

  • Ability to convert business requirements into detailed technical specifications (desirable).

  • Ability to communicate with client and managing client’s expectations (essential).

Desirable requirements for the role:

  • Excellent spoken and written English communication skills. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely and to interact with both Business and IT partners to define, understand and evaluate business requirements and resolve production issues.

  • Good time management skills, able to prioritise and progress several lines of work.

  • Effective problem solving abilities with a logical, pragmatic and structured approach to delivery.

  • A self-starter, pro-active and able to operate under their own initiative.

  • Must be a team player with excellent interpersonal and relationship skills necessary to work with an integrated software development team.

  • Able to travel based on project when time permitted.
