Job Title: Software Engineer II (Test Suppport)
Grade: T2
Experience: 1-3 Years
Location: Noida
Job Summary
Join Cadence Design Systems as a Junior Software Engineer in Test within our Quantus Insight R&D team (Digital & Signoff Group). Quantus Insight is our next-generation parasitic extraction platform. Built from scratch less than four years ago, this modern codebase offers a rare Electronic Design Automation (EDA) environment with minimal legacy burden and significant room for fresh development.
This role blends direct R&D feature development using the Qt framework with robust automated test engineering. Working closely with senior engineering leaders, you will maintain codebase stability by building automated test suites while also directly contributing to software enhancements and GUI modifications. This position offers an exciting pathway into advanced R&D methodologies, including the testing and verification of our next-generation Agentic AI workflows. We provide strong, dedicated mentoring and clear career growth opportunities to help you build advanced skills in modern C++, software automation, and desktop GUI engineering.
Job Responsibilities
1. Qt GUI & Core Feature Development
Feature Implementation: Participate in hands-on development by implementing functional updates and layout adjustments using the Qt Widgets framework.
UI Component Development: Create from scratch and update existing Qt widgets to support evolving user requirements.
Linux Environment Debugging: Troubleshoot UI bugs and performance bottlenecks within Linux desktop development environments using GDB.
2. Test Automation & Verification
Automated Test Creation: Design, implement, and maintain automated test suites in C++ and Python to ensure core application and backend stability.
Advanced Workflow Testing: Create and execute targeted verification scripts to validate the functionality and edge cases of our modern software and Agentic AI features.
Regression Testing: Identify, reproduce, and document bugs, working to expand deep R&D test coverage against high-scale data platform regressions.
Job Qualifications & Experience
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
Experience: 1–3 years of professional software engineering or test automation experience, preferably with exposure to desktop application UIs.
Required Skills
Core C++: Solid foundational knowledge of modern C++ (C++17 or newer) and standard STL libraries.
Automation Scripting: Proficient in Python for building automated test suites, script integration, and tool support.
Linux Familiarity: Comfortable operating, executing builds, and performing basic debugging (GDB) in a Linux environment.
Testing Fundamentals: Good understanding of software testing methodologies, regression testing, and the R&D QA lifecycle.
Additional Skills / Preferences
Qt Framework: Prior exposure to or academic projects using the Qt framework for GUI development or Qt Test libraries.
EDA Awareness: Basic knowledge or curiosity about electronic design automation (EDA), parasitic extraction, or physical verification.
AI/LLM Interest: Personal interest or hobbyist experimentation with LLM applications and a desire to learn how to test AI-driven workflows.
