Job Title: Software Engineer II
Grade: T2
Experience: 1-3 Years
Location: Noida
Job Summary
Join Cadence Design Systems as a Junior Software Engineer within our Quantus Insight R&D team (Digital & Signoff Group). Quantus Insight is our next-generation parasitic extraction platform. Built from scratch less than four years ago, this modern codebase offers a rare Electronic Design Automation (EDA) environment with minimal legacy burden and significant room for fresh development.
In this role, you will work closely with senior engineering leaders to build and maintain the graphical user interface (GUI) and core software workflows. Because our databases frequently handle massive datasets, you will learn to tackle real-world scalability and performance challenges. This position also offers an exciting entry point into Agentic AI workflows, allowing you to help transition a desktop GUI into an AI-assisted environment. We provide strong, dedicated mentoring and clear career growth opportunities to help you build advanced skills in modern C++, the Qt framework, and cutting-edge LLM software development.
Job Responsibilities
1. Core Engine & Workflow Support
- Dataflow Maintenance: Assist in implementing and maintaining stable internal dataflows between the computational backend and platform workflows.
- Code Optimization: Write clean, efficient C++ code to support data throughput and memory optimization under the guidance of senior engineers.
2. Agentic AI & Automation Support
- AI & Test Automation: Assist in connecting system APIs into our next-generation AI workflow while creating and running automated tests to verify autonomous AI actions.
3. GUI Development (Qt Framework)
- Widgets Implementation: Participate in the hands-on development of the Quantus Insight graphical interface using C++ and Qt Widgets.
- UI Component Maintenance: Work with existing Qt Model/View components (trees, tables, forms) to ensure efficient data rendering.
- Linux Debugging: Debug and fix minor UI layout and performance issues in Linux desktop environments using tools like GDB.
Job Qualifications & Experience
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Experience: 1–3 years of professional software development experience, preferably touching desktop application UIs.
Required Skills
- Core C++: Solid foundational knowledge of modern C++ (C++17 or newer) and standard STL libraries.
- Linux Familiarity: Comfortable working, building, and performing debugging (GDB) in a Linux environment.
- Software Engineering: Good understanding of object-oriented programming (OOP) principles and design patterns.
Additional Skills / Preferences
- Qt Framework: Prior exposure to or academic projects using the Qt framework for GUI development.
- EDA Awareness: Basic knowledge or curiosity about electronic design automation (EDA), parasitic extraction, or physical verification.
- AI/LLM Interest: Hobbyist experimentation with Agentic workflow and a strong willingness to learn agentic workflows.
- Scripting: Basic proficiency in Python for automation tasks and simple scripting.
