Software Engineer II (Java) - Hosted Onboarding Framework Team, Customer Experience Solution

The Hosted Onboarding Framework team within the CX solution is looking for a passionate Software Engineer II to join the team.
Our team is at the heart of building and evolving the hosted onboarding framework, the foundation that powers sub-merchant experience teams to create seamless and innovative onboarding features. Joining us means you’ll play a key role in shaping this critical framework, driving real impact across the organization, and collaborating with talented teams to deliver exceptional experiences.
What we are currently working on
Stronger authentication for Hosted Onboarding: We’re redesigning the authentication system to eliminate unnecessary dependencies, resolve issues with shared resources, and reimagine how tokens are generated and decoded. A versionless experience: We’re simplifying API usage by reducing the complexities of versioning, helping merchants stay compliant without the overhead of constant upgrades.Enhanced reliability: We’re raising the bar on performance by improving our SLOs and strengthening our alerting strategy to ensure a smoother, more resilient onboarding experience.
Our team brings together backend engineers, frontend engineers, and a product manager, all working in close partnership. What you will do
- Contribute to the architecture, development, and evolution of our hosted onboarding framework, a core foundation for submerchant experiences.
- Drive medium-sized technical projects where you collaborate with other engineers, both in the team and outside, to come up with the best scalable solutions.
- Take ownership of features from idea to production, ensuring quality, scalability, and resilience.
- Work closely together with other engineers in the team to identify optimization opportunities and deliver impactful solutions.
- Collaborate with other teams in submerchant experience as well as closely related teams such as Openbanking, KYC, Capabilities, etc.
Who you are
- You have typically 3-5+ years of backend software development experience at Adyen or can demonstrate equivalent capability in building and maintaining complex systems within our ecosystem.
- You possess strong proficiency in Java and a solid understanding of the JVM.
- You have experience working with PostgreSQL or similar relational databases, likely within your current role at Adyen.
- You are comfortable with Adyen’s CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI) and monitoring tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, Kibana).
- You have a strong focus on user needs and delivering value, whether the user is an external merchant or an internal developer colleague, understanding Adyen's specific priorities.
- You demonstrate excellent collaboration and communication skills, thriving in a team-oriented environment you’re already a part of within Adyen.
- You have the willingness and ability to operate, deploy, and troubleshoot applications in a live, 24/7 production environment within Adyen's systems.
