As a S oftware Engineer II at JPMorgan Chase within the Employee Platforms team, you will use technology to solve business problems and leverage software engineering best practices as we strive towards excellence. This role often works independently to execute small to medium projects, but you'll also have the opportunity to collaborate with cross functional teams to continually improve your level of knowledge about JPMorgan Chase's business and relevant technologies.
Job responsibilities
- Execute small to medium projects independently with initial direction, progressing to designing and delivering projects autonomously.
- Leverage technology to solve business problems by writing high-quality, maintainable, and robust code, following software engineering best practices.
- Participate in triaging, examining, diagnosing, and resolving incidents, collaborating with others to address root causes.
- Recognize toil within the role and proactively work to eliminate it through systems engineering or application code updates.
- Understand observability patterns and implement or improve service level indicators, objectives monitoring, and alerting solutions for optimal transparency and analysis.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance system reliability and performance.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of AWS cloud-based infrastructure and related services.
- Apply knowledge of containers and server operating systems to support application deployment and reliability.
- Support and troubleshoot Wintel servers as part of operational responsibilities.
- Document solutions, incident responses, and process improvements for future reference.
- Share knowledge, follow best practices, and contribute to a culture of learning and innovation.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 2+ years applied experience
- Code proficiently in at least one programming language.
- Apply site reliability concepts, principles, and practices in daily operations.
- Utilize observability tools such as Grafana, Dynatrace, Prometheus, Datadog, and Splunk for monitoring and telemetry collection.
- Maintain AWS cloud-based infrastructure, including services like Lambda, S3, Route 53, Redshift, ECS, EC2, CloudWatch, and Auto Scaling.
- Work with containers or common server operating systems such as Linux and Windows.
- Troubleshoot and support Wintel servers effectively.
- Use tools and concepts like Control-M, Autosys, Postman, Swagger, ServiceNow, SQL, Oracle, MySQL, Python, PowerShell, and object-oriented programming.
- Implement continuous integration and delivery using tools like Jenkins, GitLab, Terraform, GitHub, and Bitbucket.
- Apply knowledge of common networking technologies such as SSH, SMTP, SFTP, and HTTPS.
- Collaborate within large teams and communicate ideas effectively with peers and managers.
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Demonstrate proficiency with Docker.
- Attain ITIL Version 3.0 or greater certification.
- Manage vendor relationships effectively.
- Apply general knowledge of the financial services industry.
