Overview
The Mastercard Payment Networks team is looking for a Software Development Engineer to drive our customer experience strategy forward by consistently innovating and problem-solving. The ideal candidate is passionate about the customer experience journey, highly motivated, intellectually curious, analytical, and possesses an entrepreneurial mindset.
Key Responsibilities• Develop and maintain application features and services with focus on code quality and reliability.• Write backend code using Java (17+), applying core Object-Oriented principles and basic design patterns.• Contribute to development of microservices and APIs using frameworks such as Spring Boot.• Implement features based on defined requirements and solution designs, with guidance from senior engineers.• Participate in development within a CI/CD-enabled environment (e.g., PCF or similar cloud platforms).• Work with data persistence technologies (RDBMS, NoSQL such as Cassandra) under guidance.• Follow established coding standards, testing practices, and quality gates.• Debug issues and contribute to defect resolution and system stability.• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support smooth project delivery.• Actively participate in Agile ceremonies and meet sprint commitments.• Contribute to Proof of Concepts (PoCs) and learning initiatives when required.• Seek feedback, continuously learn, and adopt modern development and cloud practices.
All About You• Passion for software engineering with foundational Full Stack or Backend development skills.• Good understanding of Java and Spring Boot fundamentals.• Basic awareness of microservices and event-driven architecture concepts.• Exposure to real-time or online systems development is an advantage.• Familiarity with CI/CD concepts and version control tools.• Knowledge of databases (RDBMS and/or NoSQL such as Cassandra).• Exposure to cloud platforms (e.g., PCF) and digital-native architectures is desirable.• Strong learning ability with a mindset to quickly grasp and apply new technologies.• Effective communication and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.• Positive attitude towards continuous learning and improvement
