We’re searching for a Software Engineer to join Aurora's FinOps team.

The FinOps team develops frameworks and tools to monitor and manage Aurora’s cloud expenditures, aggregating and allocating costs across all cloud resources and systems. We provide detailed analysis and reporting on spending anomalies, compliance, and budget adherence. Additionally, the team partners closely with engineering teams to identify and implement optimizations and policies that enhance the efficiency of cloud usage, covering both compute resources and data storage, ensuring Aurora’s infrastructure is as cost-effective and scalable as possible.

The FinOps team plays a crucial role in monitoring and optimizing resource usage, ensuring that all processes are running efficiently to support Aurora’s performance and scalability goals. We make it possible to understand resource allocation across teams, manage costs effectively, and enhance operational efficiency to power innovation and growth at scale.

In this role, you will

  • Design and implement new tools and services to enhance the FinOps framework, driving efficient and transparent cloud spending.
  • Develop and deploy instrumentation for comprehensive monitoring and precise cost allocation across compute and data storage systems.
  • Build intuitive dashboards and reports for engineers, leadership, and executives, providing real-time insights on cost anomalies, resource efficiency, and spending patterns.
  • Partner closely with teams across Aurora to identify and execute cost-efficiency initiatives and optimize cloud resource usage.
  • Continuously monitor and manage resources across various AWS products, staying current with the latest AWS updates and advancements.

Required Qualifications

  • BS/MS in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field; or equivalent industry experience

  • Demonstrated ability to navigate and contribute effectively within large-scale codebases
  • Experience with cloud platforms and services (AWS, Azure, or GCP), including deploying and managing cloud resources
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information effectively to cross-functional teams
  • A commitment to developing high-performance, intuitive software solutions that drive impactful results in cloud cost management and efficiency

Desirable Qualifications

  • Experience with Big Data ecosystems and relational databases
  • Proficiency in API and service development, with a focus on scalable, maintainable interfaces
  • Comfortable working in Linux or other Unix-based environments
